The music video i found the most entertaining was the video created by David, Ajah, Rhianna, and Thomas. Which can be found 15th on the City and Islington Vimeo play list. The reason why i found that this music video was better amongst the rest is because..
The lip syncing with the music was perfectly timed to the original singer. They also used many different locations which suited the nature and vibe of the song. I also noticed that they synergised the advertisement and CD case with the characters on screen and the props and costumes they wore. This is a creative and intelligent way to bring the project together. As well as the planning, there was a wide verity in transitions and special effects, such as the use of cross dissolve in a jump cut.

Below i will be discussing the techniques they used in the mise-en-scene in particular shots that i found very interesting.

This was the opening shot when the male started to sing. The intro had an up beat rhythm to it, immediately making the audience recognise the pop like genre. Having a character represented as a hippy, further enforces the pop like mood. They have used obvious indicators of a hippy character by the use of mist-en-scene with particular costumes, props, setting, and performance.
The round and blue tinted glasses along with the camouflaged jacket is are both uses of costumes and props to exaggerate the hippy like qualities to the character. The use of high key lighting and a particular setting presents a colourful, graffiti covered wall behind the singer. a lot of pop videos use bright and vibrant colours because it almost makes it more quirky. common conventions of a pop song include the main singer, singing to the camera along or with accomplice's behind him/her. They have purposefully used this at the beginning to again re-enforce the pop genre by the use of common conventions in a pop music video.

This screen shot was taken at the moment the female voice is introduced. This group has intelligently used the diegetic sound with in the song of females intro, and have used performance to have her enter the scene through the mise-en-scene at the same time. I really like this shot because it starts off with a mid shot of the male character walking towards the camera. As his verse starts to finish, the camera zooms out and pans to the left, leaving the male character on the right, and taking up very little space in the shot. This draws the audiences attention straight to the female character as she enters and walks from the left to the centre of the frame, making her take up most of the frame. This also makes her more important to further emphasise that she is the person singing at the moment.

I also found that this shot was used cleverly as well. This scene shows the two main artists singing the chorus. This part of the song is whats most memorable and often the most rhythmic part. I like the way they used different types of mise-en-scene to exaggerate this particular section of the song. The low angle gives the audience a different and interesting perspective on the two characters. Along with the setting, having the backdrop as a bright yellow house. The bright colour further emphasises the up beat and happy nature of a pop song. The use of a wall in the setting and having the characters sit on it shows that they have chilled and played back personalities. I also like the fact that they used a duo in the chorus scene. This is because the chorus is supposed to represent the song as a whole, including the characters and artists who are singing.
