I am assuming that page 95 was the start of the Competency assessment and ended on page 102.

On the mindset I made a perfect score, and on the Behaviors: Professional Foundation I scored high. 

Overall I did better then anticipated. I don't have any experience in counseling, but I have been talking with the counselors at my school, and some of the things that was on the assessment were things we discussed.

There is still a lot to learn but with the ASCA School Counselor Professional Standards and Competencies Assessment will help me understand the different Competencies that a counselor needs to know and be aware of. 

Using the assessment as a guide and which category that I most struggle in will definitely make me a better counselor in the end of my counseling career.

My most struggle was the legal aspect of the assessment. So I know I will have to do extra studying and hopefully with the guidance of ASCA, I will be successful.

My response to my Peer:

Rosa, I also scored high on Mindset and Behavior. I definitely have to get familiar with ASCA also. I honestly didn't realize there were so many Professional Standards and Competencies.

My weakness is the demonstrating understanding of educational systems, legal issues, polies, research and educational trends, ASCA, 2019.

At this time I am not sure how I will improve myself in this area, for I have a hard time comprehending legal vocabulary, so like you I will be taking notes and writing definitions to words I don't understand. I feel though this will not be enough, so I will be reading the other resources that is offered to us.

  It states in Section II: Manage components of the ASCA that it provides organizational tools and assessments design to guide, target, structure and construct a program to get results, and it helps school counselors develop, ASCA, 2019.  

With hard work and determination, I believe we will overcome these obstacles, and be successful.

I believe as a school counselor, we should be an advocate for every student, no matter race, gender, or religion. We are to make sure the student feels safe in the classroom, and if a problem arises, as a counselor, I will listen attentively to the student to help solve the student's issue. It may take some time to figure out what is happening, but I would contact the proper authorities to help the student if it's life-threatening. People sometimes ask for help without asking, and it's the same for students. As a trained counselor, I will know what signs to look for to help the student and their physical and emotional needs.

Ethical Standards of a counselor help lead the counselor with a guideline to follow. Ethics shows you are a leader and have a code of honor to uphold. It guides a counselor in respecting the student's privacy, in which you do not discuss the student or the issues they may be facing with others.  Everything is confidential that the student discusses with you.

Becoming a school counselor my core beliefs are making sure each child has a safe environment setting, building a rapport so the student will know they are not alone. Studnets will know that they can learn and it's okay to learn differently then other students.
