2. Linking symbols to context- Guillotine symbolising the treaty of Versailles. The 3 men possible represent the big 3 with Germany being the prisoner- the clauses individually represented. Clemenceau as the one executing the punishment represents his rather oppressive ambitions towards Germany regarding the damage in the 1st world war.   

The other 2 men represent USA and Britain respectively , with USA possible objecting the decision by his gesture, compared to Britain , appearing as a diplomat. Link to Context- It is a situation that would lead to the downfall of Germany. This can be seen by the skinny man carried towards the Guillotine ( carried for dying). The three men represent the Big 3 and the man being carried with tied hands represents Germany. The tied hands of the man represent how Germany is "tied" to follow what the big 3 says. The body of the man that is skinny represents how weak the situation in Germany is. The man tried to stop the other man is Woodrow Wilson who wants to stop Lloyd George and Clemenceau from "killing" Germany. 2. Linking Symbols to the Context- The three men represent the Big 3 - Wilson, Lloyd George and Clemenceau. The man being executed represents Germany and his situation represents Germany's state. The guillotine represents the treaty and how it aimed to completely end Germany. President Wilson holds out his hands which shows how he is still reasonable (14 Points) but at the end of the day is still a part of the execution. Clemenceau holds the rope making him the actual executioner since he was the source of hatred.
