1. Ted Talk: Why we need to talk about an injustice- Bryan Stevenson

Our society is not only being distorted by race but by poverty when it comes to incarceration. The justice system in this country treats you better if you are rich and guilty than if you're poor and innocent.

This is very important to me because even though society knows about the racial injustice we have in the country, there's little we can do to fix it.

3. Song: Where is the Love by The Black Eyed Peas

Where is the Love by The Black Eyed Peas is about the issues of violence, terrorism, gangs, racism, hate and anger. The message of the song is that greatest value that can overcome this world of pain is love and love is the hope we have to straighten out society. This issue matters to me because this song first came out in 2003 and the song could be used now too because of the lack of love we have in the world.
From the artists:
will.i.am: "My grandma said a prayer, and said that we shouldn't stay at home afraid when you're being called on to do as much healing as you can with the gift that was given to us."
The Black Eyed Peas later come out with aother version of their classic hit from 2003, "where is the love" in 2016 with the same messages that they were talking about the 13 years before that.

Due to the aggressive enforcement has led to hundreds of thousands of people into the criminal justice system. Between 2001 and 2010 there were over 8 million pot arrests in the US. Enforcing 🤬 laws costs about 3.6 million dollars a year and it still hasn't diminished the use or availability of 🤬. It is used roughly equally between whites and blacks, yet blacks are 3.73 times more likely to be arrested for having it in their possession.

This photograph is of the Black Lives Matter Movement, in this image we see people of all colors protesting and fighting for equal rights. This image is powerful because it shows how everyone comes together as one to fight for one cause. This image speaks to me because even though there are may differences between the people in the picture and they may not even know each other, they are standing as one for one cause. This image is from CNN.

My family has had a significant influence on my political ideology. Growing up in California, I learned that people are continuously fighting for their equal rights. They taught me to stand up for people who are being treated unfairly. I was young when I learned a lot of this but because of my family and what I was learning in school at that time, it really influenced me to fight for equal rights.

Students who survived the Parkland shooting, organized the event to demand gun-control legislation and an end to school shootings. The students had to protest guns and get other people to protest with them so that the government would see what their concern was.
This even was so special because students and youth organized the protest and since they did that, they got more students to protest with them. Many people do feel the student's impact because now, many more students and youth are continuing to show how they feel about political issues.
Student Activists can learn that voicing your opinion is important because other people may feel that way as well but don't want to share it. I do believe it is important for teenagers to participate because we are the future and we need to fight for what we want because our voices matter.
