Silence is an option whether you want your voice heard or not as we have the right to freedom of speech according to the first amendment. However, silence can be hurtful to those who can influence a change in society or a community for those who have no voice such as minorities who mostly have white people speak and control everything for them in political races when they don't truly know about the issues minorities face. Minorities should be able to have the same privileges' and opportunities as white people to run for a political position in their government and improve their communities that were neglected and uncared for. In my opinion silence might be the answer if you use it to not bring a positive change in our society such as all negative thoughts that will ruin or worsen society should be kept to oneself.
