I have done a lot of reflecting and tomorrow my students will tell me what I can change to make the class better for them. It's scary!
I also have my class structure set up to encourage growth. My students complete the same task multiple times throughout each unit and put it in a unit portfolio. The portfolio is graded at the end of the unit based on showing growth of skills.

In my personal life, a growth mindset would look like overcoming my fear of failure and mistakes, embracing GROWTH not perfection :). For the school year, in terms of growth mindset, I'm trying to use more "-ing" type language. For example, "I'm learnING how to balance more sections" rather than "I can't keep up with all these classes." When it comes to action steps, it's important for me to identify the language that indicates a fixed mindset and alerting myself to when I start going "down that path" and making a conscious decision to re-write that narrative towards growth.

I've been out of running practice for awhile now and am definitely struggling to get back in the swing of things...I am sloooow...but growth mindset means I will get better by working hard toward my goals- I'll build to running longer and faster. :-) Having an end goal in mind with benchmarks along the way are key.

A Growth Mindset in my life would look like reflection, journaling, and setting both short term and long term goals. Some goals for me for this school year have been to better know my online students and to better be able to individualize for their specific needs!

A growth mindset is one of constant reflection to improve the work that has been or is being done. I want to Improve feedback to students by using a variety of webtools. I use cecklists and constantly refer to the feedback given in spot checks.

This is most obvious in my personal life with four young children and the values I am working to instill within them...journals, staggered steps, goal-setting. I like the Miss Frizzle example! That is something I hope to apply within the online classroom as well as my home "classroom"

I need to remember that I always have room for growth. It's really easy to get focused on everything on my (very) lengthy to-do list and forget that I have room to grow in my profession. A goal I have for myself is to take the time to seek virtual professional development opportunities to help find new ways to reach my students (both f2f and with NCVPS). One goal I have for myself is to find some new web tools to use in my courses. I tend to stick with a few of the same ones, because I don't think to branch out to use new ones.
