Firstly, customers have a higher expectation to their shopping experience due to the advancement of technologies nowadays. Consumers  want a more efficient service, higher quality products and bigger discounts. They also want retailers to meet their needs in the moment. Therefore, retailers turn to IoT to give customers a more personalized, in-the-moment service. 

Secondly, IoT provides a faster and more efficient logistics and supply change. IoT acts as an enabler and a cost saver in a just-in-time retail reality with cost pressure that makes the optimization of that process crucial.
