This genetics unit was very interesting. We learnt genetics deeper and more elaborative than we ever had. I learned how to solve more difficult and detailed punnet square problems as well as a new graphical representation of genotypes known as pedigree charts. We learned how some mutations are beneficial and detrimental in their own ways. It was mainly interesting as we learned a lot about fermentation with yeast and other ways that E Coli. can be used in gene editing. I thoroughly enjoyed writing the late blight potato essay as it was not something I had researched before. Overall I think this unit was my favourite unit, besides the fact that we haven't started our next unit! It was my favourite because not only did we learn new things and new forms of representation, we also built on what we had learnt previously in our past grades. In 6th grade, my personal project was about genetically modifying beetroot with more iron to combat anaemia, I am proud to say that it is now, through our debates and gene-editing information, I can actually see that it could potentially take place in real life!

I learned a lot from this genetics unit, I enhanced my prior knowledge and learned about some new topics as well. The Punnett squares and the biotechnology portions, and learning about cancer were my favourite parts, along with learning about mutations. Learning about how milk, cheese and other such foods were made was really interesting to me. The debate, blight potato essay and such activities were fun ways for me to apply my knowledge, do more research while also deeply reflecting on the topics as well. Genetics, and genetic engineering in particular has always caught my interest, therefore this unit was really fun, engaging and interesting for me!

I really enjoyed the genetics unit because it was a very interesting learning experience. I liked the debate that we did and that we could look at the advantages and disadvantages of genetically modified organisms. It was interesting to know the process of cloning as well as how and why mutations occur. It was fun to learn about how mutations are also necessary for evolution and how something like natural selection exists in our world. I really enjoyed this unit especially the summatives where we could apply our knowledge of genetics to real-world scenarios and problems like cystic fibrosis and cancer.

I liked how we used creativity and visuals to lean during our classes I learnt a lot about how it can benefit us and harm us. I really liked the debate as well since it shows us the good and the bad sides of GMOs. I really enjoyed learning about the cheese and beer and how they are made.

I had fun learning some new terms after the first semester genetics unit and it was very interesting from start to finish. With the ppt's we went through to the tasks we did to the test. It has been a fun ride overall with the occasional doubts here and there. What I enjoyed most was the biotechnology part of the unit like gm crops and organisms and how genetic engineering is used in real life and this helped be while writing my essay (which I also found fun).

Not only was able to build upon knowledge already had, I was able to learn about more things and learn about the nuances in the scientific terms of things are the new such as haploid, sec linkage etc. I was able to understand other factors like political, social economical et cetera and the role that they play witht the dbate and with other small activities waited and was able to understand the consequences that science has on the world
