Cyclone Yasi started off as a category three Cyclone and then upgraded to a category five Cyclone. But the biggest setback on Cyclone Yasi was that it not only destroyed a number of houses, it also destroyed the Great Barrier Reef. Coral has been destroyed to bits by the storm of Cyclone Yasi and rubbish has been sent in the ocean creating more environmental problems to the Great Barrier Reef.

The cost to rebuild was $3.5 billion. They had to spend this money mainly on flood repairs and damaged homes in the area. It killed one person. Tourism was effected very badly. The federal and state government had to lend $10 million just to get tourism back on track.

Socially
People have lost their loved ones. Farmers also lost their crops and animals to Cyclone Yasi. It killed one person. 150,000 homes without power and thousands left homeless. People had be airlifted from hospitals that were effected and damaged by severe Cyclone Yasi

Environmentally
The amount of damage that Cyclone Yasi had made was unreal. The trees in the forests where literally cut in half like the growing Banana trees, the prices of Bananas were effected by going up because of the damage of the Banana trees, loosing most of the bananas . this was caused by high speed winds up to 250km per hour. Also two species of animals were endangered. The Cassowary and the Mahogany Glider. There habitat was destroyed and that lowers their food source.
