He dedicated the later half of his life to ending poverty, most well known through his simple clothing and the salt law protest. He walked for three weeks with hundreds joining him at a beach to collect salt, resulting in the law being changed in the biggest nonviolent way.

In America, however, most of the people living in the colonies were mostly neutral about independence from Britian. Few felt as oppressed as the people of India, with the strong leaders being the thriving force of the war. George Washington was seen as the biggest hero, who was nothing like Gandhi. Washington was tall and intimidating, with wit about violence and common sense, while India followed a short old man who preached peace.

In India, the British were fair for quite some time, until the Indians became unhappy and wished for freedom from their rulers. Eventually, after numerous attempts at gaining freedom, the biggest motivator was the massacre of over 350 unarmed protesters. Once the people were not given political rights to form opinions, rebellion became popular. When WW2 began, Britain weakened and was not able to use India, or even to rule it much longer.

In America, the events leading up to the Revolutionary war were mostly involving money, considering the taxes on all things in America that didn't benefit the Americans. The Americans rebelled in small ways, with Britain giving Americans less rights.

Economically speaking, India was devastatingly poor, with all communities lacking in education and food. Famine was extremely common, leading to more people barely surviving. There were also extremely rich people in India who tipped the scale for the suffering citizens.

America was sometimes suffering financially, but not to the same level as India's Economics. Americans were unfairly taxed with representation, but were also affected in their own businesses by the extreme prices.

Throughout the Indian War for Independence, the people of India were mostly Hindu, but leaders hoped for a country full of peace and tolerance for all religions. The British began to make their presence larger over time through trading and governmental rule, while the people of India were forced out of governing themselves in smaller nations. Over time, protests took place and the British who saw Indians as less than people were no longer of importance.

In America, the social dynamic was similar with Christianity, where freedom of religion was a goal but didn't usually work out. The British had a strong presence, but not to the point where opinions were not aloud. The poor were farmers and the rich were usually veterans and politicians.

iIn India, the conditions for prisoners of war were absolutely inhumane, although the American revolution occurred long before. Prisons were built on islands by the prisoners themselves, with disease and never enough food for the poor workers. There were also islands with prisons already built that put the freedom fighters into complete isolation.

In America, there were many deaths and prisoners of war, however, it was much more humane and many enemies were just killed on the spot. Although the prisoners of war were allowed to be seen as human, between 8,000-10,000 still died, mostly due to disease.

Overall, both wars were important and changed history, however, India's war lasted for over a hundred years. The British took advantage of them with their fabrics and trading posts, while the people of India fought back in mostly nonviolent protests. Through these methods, there is a lesson to be taught to the world about violence. The Americans used war as fuel for power and control over money, although it was vital for America to obtain power over itself.
From knowing about the events of these wars and the people in them, it will provide a better example and a worse example on how to make proper change.
