1. Wealth Inequality

Wealth inequality refers to an unequal distribution of wealth which leads to poorer and richer communities. The poorer communities receive less wealth and as a result have less resources and visa versa. This is a picture of an elementary school's playground equipment in a low income neighborhood. They have almost nothing to play with and most of their equipment is old or worn out. This image is an example of wealth inequality because it shows how the poorer communities have fewer resources than communities of higher wealth. I chose this picture because it represents the gap between wealth and shows how poorer communities can be affected.

2. Multigenerational Family/Blended Family

A multigenerational family is a family with multiple generations, for example, grandparents, parents, and children. A blended family is a family that has parents with children from a previous relationship. This is a picture of the Kardashian/Jenner family and it is a multigenerational family as well as a blended family. There are four generations in this picture including the young children, their mothers, grandma, and great grandma. Even though currently the mother Kris is not married to Bruce(now Caitlyn), both Bruce and Kris had children from previous relationships. I chose this picture because it is a literal representation of a multigenerational family. It also is representative of a blended family because the younger women have step siblings.

Institutional racism can be any type of exclusion or discrimination relating to social, cultural, or economic aspects. This image is from a magazine article that describes a woman's experience at a hospital while she was getting surgery. She awoke during the surgery and said that she could feel a lot of pain, but the nurses didn't listen to her and told her to just breathe. This image is an example of institutional racism because the article points out that Black people's pain is often perceived as less severe than non-Black people. I chose to use this picture because the image shows a Black woman with a stethoscope wrapped around her body, and the caption "The Care Divide," represents the institutional racism that people experience in hospitals where people go to receive care.

Immigration can be described as someone leaving their home country and moving to a new country where they are not native. This is a picture from a magazine article that shows a group of immigrants crossing the border from Guatemala into Mexico. The article talks about how these people faced many struggles in order to make it to the United States and many were deported back, treated like criminals. This image is an example of immigration because the people in it are migrating to the United States and it shows some of the hardships that they endured while traveling like walking through this river with all their belongings. I chose this image because it is a modern day example of immigration and it shows the perseverance of the people who make the decision to migrate to another country.

This is an image of a Japanese American family who is migrating to another place with their possessions. I think that this picture most represents the idea of immigration because the family is wearing warm clothing which could be keeping them warm on their journey and they also have some luggage with them which probably has some of their personal belongings. They also look happy like they are looking forward to wherever they are going. Immigration can benefit those who are migrating because they could be escaping an unsafe place or looking for new opportunities in the new country. Something that is missing from this picture that is important to note is that families who migrate may face many difficult situations while they are traveling and this image doesn't show the hardships that they may have faced or will face in the future.

This is an image from the video, "Little Miss Sunshine," that shows a young girl dancing to a song called Super Freak. It is an uncomfortable video because she is a young girl dancing sexually to the music. This video connects to the term sexual behavior because in the video while she is dancing, she turns around and shakes her butt at the audience, takes off some of her clothes, and the song playing can be considered inappropriate for young children because it is talking about a kinky girl. This movie was created by a man named Michael Arndt. Arndt can created many famous movies including Little Miss Sunshine as one of his best. I think something that is missing from this scene of the movie is the point that the little girl is also being sexualized like many women are for their bodies, and some of the audience seems to be enjoying a little girl being portrayed sexually.

This is a picture of an article that talks about Serena Williams' experience of having a C-section at the doctor and how her race affected her aftercare treatment. The concept of race relates to this article because it points out that Black women in the Unites States often receive less post partum care or preventative care which leads to more death rates among Black women and childbirth. In the article, Williams describes how after giving birth she faced many complications including shortness of breath, blood clots, and a large hematoma. I think that this article was made for people who want to become more aware about birthing experiences among Black women and was created because having Williams describe her experience can help other women feel a connection to her. Some people can benefit from this article because learning about Black women and their birthing experiences can bring more awareness to others and even encourage people to make a change and find more solutions to solve some of these issues.

This is a picture of a wealthy family that is famously known as The Royal Family. In England, this family is also considered royalty and has queens, princes, and princesses. This picture closely represents the concept of class because this family is part of the wealthy class and it shows an example of what a wealthy class family may look like, with expensive clothing and furniture that is not widely available for people of lower classes. In this photo, the family is getting together probably at a dinner or party, since they are a little dressed up, and taking a picture of themselves for memories. The meaning of this photo could change depending on who is viewing it because even though it is just a picture of a family getting together, some people could see this as the family bragging about their wealth and become jealous.

On June 26, 2015, the Supreme Court announced that states could not ban same-sex marriages. June 26 is related to marriage equality because for the first time same-sex couples were finally able to marry and be out and open about their sexuality like heterosexual couples were doing. June 26 was a celebratory day for same-sex couples because they had been fighting for their equality for years and years. The people who benefit from June 26, are those who are in same-sex relationships and families with same-sex parents because as research has shown, marriage can lead to better health and longer, happier lives. Something that is missing from this is that there are still a lot of inequalities when it comes to same-sex couples because of stereotypes, the amount of countries who ban same-sex marriages, and how the media portrays heterosexuality compared to homosexuality.

This is a picture from the video "Family Day," from Sesame Street and it shows the characters getting ready for a party for their families to come. This video is a representation of family reunification because at the end of the clip Big Bird is reunited with his grandma, Granny Bird, after not being able to see her for a long time. Although the video doesn't directly say where all the relatives are coming from, it does mention that Granny Bird doesn't like flying, which implies that she may live in another country. Sesame Street was created by Joan Ganz Cooney and Lloyd Morrisett who have previously included other real world issues into other episodes of the show. Many people can benefit from family reunification, mainly included the family because they are together again, like shown in this clip when presenting how happy Big Bird and Granny Bird were when they were reunited.
