I believe my responsibilities as a teacher are . . .

I think my responsibilities as a teacher include a lot of things. One that is very important is the acceptance of others and for who they are. When accepting someone you need to be able to accept everything they bring with them. This could be a different language, different culture, different beliefs. All of this will be welcomed in my class room. Another responsibility I have is to allow students to express who they want to be safely in my classroom. In both of these article about the pledge, this was not able to happen for students. I don't want any of my students to have to do something they may not be comfortable doing (like the pledge). The last thing I think I have as a responsibility is of course to be a leader. I want my students to see that I am comfortable with all different types of cultures and backgrounds in my classroom in the hopes that they will be too. I have so many more responsibilities than just that, but these are some of the really important ones I want to have in place in my classroom.

I believe that learning. . .

I think that learning is always happening, no matter where you are or what you are doing. One of the readings that really stuck out to me was A Framework for Understanding Ruby Payne. I have actually done some of the quizzes in the past and it really is astounding to see what you see in a class when going over the answers. This was one of the biggest learning moments I had when doing it and even re-going over a quiz after reading this article. As the article said, "On my first read-through of the "rules" I didn't know whether to laugh at the sheer stupidity of some of them or to rage at the offensive stereotyping of people in poverty and the thinly veiled bigotry reflected in others." I almost had this same reaction because it shocked me. Seeing that some students have never had the chance or opportunities as others or even the same knowledge is baffling. I think this was my most important thing for learning because just because one person knows one thing doesn't mean someone else knows the same thing. I also think we can learn from one another and discover how close and different we are. That in itself is a serious learning moment. I attached two websites with a good quizzes!
https://www.huffpost.com/entry/could-you-survive-in-pove_b_137061?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAH324zVdAmvLUOuHAghQY9goW-54TA8BUV8MuVHEG-UTx8PJKg_OIFzKtuokTF1EghKUclJT5XefILhgl-I_WPaBRLyDF-rgb91JQ62e_aij-w1acBESp9Q6OKZloz_r7424W6HW9wpwO18CpwT9hWnmUs_XBCilc3j59TvtXy9t

I believe that teaching. . .

I believe that teaching is a certain type of calling. Not everyone is meant to do this job because it can be a tough one to do. I think that teaching is taking and giving. We have to as educators have to take what our students are giving and push them to give just a little more. We give so much to our students because we are so quick to help others and that's exactly what this job is. We are giving our all to these students to be able to help them have a good or better situation in their education. Teaching is probably the most rewarding thing to do though. You will learn new cultures, new ways to think, new tactics, and so many other things. Everyone is a teacher at some point in their life whether they think they are or not. Some of us just decide to do it for a living and that is the real magic and beauty in teaching is being that person 24/7.

I believe the purpose of schooling is. . .

I believe the purpose of schooling has multiple important parts. One of the important parts is for schooling to be a safe way to express yourself and learn. When we do this and allow for this in the classroom we create places that students want to be. Free thinking in schooling also helps us to be able to expand on topics without making them feel uncomfortable and or make them seem not important. Another schooling belief is that it is for learning. We need to use schooling for learning to be able to understand new and old things. Without having this, history could repeat itself or we may never learn anything new. Everything would be the same and nothing would ever change. The last two things that really stick out is the importance of socialization in schooling. This allows for students to create new relationships and bonds, as well as be able to understand the different relationships. If students aren't getting proper education or attendance, then these could be things they are lacking.

I believe that all my future students are world changers. They are explorers and game changers. They are inventors and researchers. They are everything they want to be and more. I know my students will be the greatest they can be in my classroom because I will push for them to always put their best foot forward and always try. I know sometimes life can be hard for some students and some days they don't always have the best days. What I want my students to do on those days is to give their best that they can give for that day. Everyone should be able to do this everyday and that's what I want them to do. I don't want them to go over the top because some days their minds and bodies may be stuck on something outside the classroom. I really want them to just try and be themselves. I believe my future students are really the best they can be.

I think my students will learn best when I am committed to being in my classroom. Every teacher should be committed to their classroom but I mean it in a different context. What I mean is, by leaving my issues at the door, in my car, or at home. Allowing my worries, fears, and other problems to not be in the classroom. I should be allowing my students fears, worries, and issues be present in the classroom and allow for them to be in a safe place for my help. I think my students will learn best when I am 100% there for their needs and what they need me to be. If I am not there for their needs to be fixed or helped or listened to, then what am I doing in there? I am meant for my students to be safe and feel like they have a safe place to be and talk to without my worries or other things being there for them to think about.

I think community is a group of people who can come together and support one another who live within a certain amount of blocks of one another. I think this is a group of people who work together to make living situations better. They are friends and neighbors to one another. I think a family is blood and not blood. I think anyone can be a family. They don't have to be biologically related or even look the same to be family. These are people who would do anything for you and help you be the best person you can be and help support you. I think these people are the people you can choose to let in your circle or even people you are "stuck" with. Your family can be your community and your community can be your family. They both support and help one another.

I think collaboration is when different thing. I think it is people coming together. They become one to do something and make it come to life. I think it is also working together to create something. Collaboration can be with two people or a group of people. It can also be across the board for ages. No one age is labeled as being allowed to collaborate. We see this happening with babies working together to do something and even adults to try to do something. Collaboration allows for bigger things that may have been hard to do alone but it also can be difficult. You won’t know how it goes with a certain group till you give it a shot. You should always try before giving up.

I believe being a teacher activist is. . .

I believe being a teacher activist is teaching your students how they can advocate for themselves as well as you being an activist. Being a teacher activist you are allowed to show how you went or will go to rallies for things you believe in. This will show them this is something you believe in and want to stand for. You can show them that by going you are trying to help create a change and help make a difference. You as a teacher can show that this is one way students can also become activists. There are so many ways that they can become activists like being able to speak up to others when they feel like they need too. This is something that will definitely help them make a difference because they are telling someone why they are wrong and how they could change it. I think being a teacher activist is just showing students the right and wrong of what they can do to advocate for something they believe in.
