Last month, they presented a plan at the school library to protect these animals.

These students think they can help the turtles in different ways. One way is to use less plastic, because plastic goes into the ocean and it is bad for them. They also baked cakes and sold them at school to raise money to help people who take care of turtles.

Other students made turtle drawings on bookmarks to show everyone at school how important they are.

Leonardo DiCaprio, an actor who cares a lot about the environment, said that “we need to help turtles, especially the hawksbill turtles, because they are very important for the health of our oceans!”

These students, from D. Fernando II School in Sintra, belive they can help oceans and sea creatures by cleaning beaches and removing bags from oceans. Most students are worried about whales. Trash can cause internal injuries, breathing difficulties, and even death of wales. Furthermore, microplastics, which are almost invisible, enter the animals bodies through the water and the fish they eat this is a small detail that nobody noticed.

Protecting whales is a day small daily actions, like reducing plastic use and recycling correctly. “Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today”

Last week, we started gathering ideas at the D. Fernando II school library.

Blue macaws are fascinating birds and, unfortunately, are in danger of extinction. We raised funds to donate to animal protection centers and created posters to raise awareness; we also made people reflect on the problem, and help the blue macaws.

Singer Billie Eilish released a special edition vinyl record, "Azul-Araras" (Blue Macaws), made entirely from recycled plastic recovered from critical habitats. The album is not only blue, but also has a texture that mimics the bird's feathers. And she created a slogan:

"Don't let the blue fade into black".

Monday, March 2nd they began researching on these exotic animals.

They are selling cookies and cakes to raise money and build a business to in order to buy exotic animal shelters.

Tomás Madaíl and Timothy Cilliers from the 8th grade: "We need to act now before it's too late!"

These students are trying to raise funds for this cause through donations to help the koalas.

Recently, many people have blocked traffic to protest with signs and demonstrate their support for the cause.

Some students are knitting koalas and selling them door-to-door to raise money.

“We must act now! Koalas are in danger and they need our help. If we protect forests and take care of nature, we can make a difference and save these animals.”

The party of five Portuguese students held a fundraising event to gather enough money to afford the plane tickets to visit and meet Punch. In less than a week, they were able to buy the tickets. As they arrived in Japan, they got a cab and went to the Zoo. With the money they gathered from the fundraising, they could also donate a part of it to the Zoo to help Punch feel accepted and loved. After their return, they wrote a newspaper article about what they saw. "This teaches us more about wildlife. This is a common behaviour between apes, which wasn't very well known before Punch. We acknowledge new things every day.", they said.

These students believe they can help endangered penguins by raising money and donating it to organisations which help this species at risk.

Last summer, these group of students sold homemade lemonade in their neighbourhood and others designed some posters to raise awareness to this problem. Some students who are good at arts made some keychains and sold them at school and to their family members.

Brad Pitt, a famous American actor said: "We must act now! These penguins need our help! We can make a difference."

Their love for the environment motivated them to help the Earth and consequently, help the wildlife, and people! They gathered funds, and immediately got to work, this project took 6 days to do, and it involved them going to school at the weekend.

The three members shared the act in social media, and it blew up instantly! People loved it so much that they donated money and they kept planting trees with the money they raised.

As Michael Jackson said: “I love the Planet, I love the trees. I have this thing for trees – the colours and the changing of leaves. I love it. I respect those kind of things. I really feel that nature is trying so hard to compensate for man’s mismanagement of the planet. Because the planet is sick, like a fever. If we don’t fix it now, it’s at the point of no return. This is our last chance to fix this problem that we have, where it’s like a runway train. And the time has come, This Is It.”

We must act now.

Pollution is affecting many things such as the air, the water and even ourselves. It has been going on for a long time, and it’s getting worse each day.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t happen just in Portugal, but in the entire world, especially in Byrnihat, in India, that due to searches. In 2024/2025, it was confirmed that it was the most polluted area in the whole world! Shocking, right?

So, in order to stop that, we have to stop some actions that are normalized; for example, we should use less cars and more public transports, such as buses, trains or even opt for walking or biking, the more, the better!

As Laufey said “it’s now or never! Our planet isn’t gonna fix itself... We have to take action now, or we’ll drown in our own making soon or later.”

Deforestation is another important cause. When many trees are cut down, the environment loses humidity and the natural water cycle is affected, which can reduce rainfall. In addition, excessive water use in agriculture, industry, and daily consumption can use more water than nature can replace.

Droughts have many consequences. They can reduce agricultural production, causing food shortages and higher food prices. Rivers and reservoirs may lose water, leading to a lack of drinking water for people. Animals and plants that depend on water can also suffer or even disappear from some areas.

Today, droughts are part of a global water crisis and affect almost half of the world’s population. Because of this, it is important to save water and protect the environment to help reduce the impact of droughts.

Albert Einstein once said: “When the rain stops, humanity must start thinking. Drought reminds us that water is more precious than we realize.”

Last month, they presented their action plan to D. Fernando II school.

So, they are helping the FAS (Amazon Sustainable Foundation). They don't do that just for money, but to help the Amazon: the animals and their habitats as well as the whole rainforest.

Last Friday, they sold old clothes to get money in order to be donated to FAS and they offered themselves as volunteers in the summer. The students who were good at arts made drawings to alarm people around the world about deforestation and posted them on Instagram.

A Jaguar said in an interview with the president:

" The Amazon is the Earth's Heart! If you do not have a heart, you don’t live".

Recently, the Earth’s temperature rose , the Arctic sea ice melted earlier in the spring and froze later in the autumn . When the ice disappears, they are forced to spend more time on land, where food is scarce.

The students found out that besides the loss of their habitat , polar bears also deal with pollution. The students wanted to try to help and inform the population by making posters and creating songs and speeches, but it would be a very difficult task . Unfortunately, they only managed to make the song but, even so ,it helped calling people’s awareness to the polar bears’ issue. They didn’t achieve much, but they tried and enjoyed the work they did to help the polar bears.

They convinced 60 people from their school to make the world better. They made 5 groups of 12 people and gave each group a different activity. The first group had to collect trash at the beach, the second group had to spread the message "please use the bus instead of your car to help reduce traffic and pollution", the third group was in charge of organizing a pollution campaign at school, the fourth group had to clean the park, and the fifth and last group created posters about protecting the environment and placed them around the school.

After a rough month, we finally managed to take a good amount of trash out of the beach, got some people to use the bus, finished placing the posters around the school, made the pollution campaign and cleaned the park.

Each day that passes, the world is getting more and more affected and contaminating many things like the ground but mostly water and air.

Small actions today can create a cleaner world tomorrow!!!
