One thing I have been thinking about is how I cannot control who watches or has access at home but the in-class flip takes away that uncertainty and puts control back in the teacher's hands.

Preparation

I was talking to a colleague that this technology will be powerful for differentiation BUT I was thinking about all the TIME it will take to prepare video lessons and build schoology resources and this did count the preparation time as a challenge. Challenge for the first year or two but after it is streamlined...just update will actually save time. Its almost like we will all be first year teachers again.

I currently run math workshop during math time. It is based on stations. The kids have 4 stops, math facts, at your seat, teacher time, and hands on. The flipped in class would help with the engagement aspect. I am used to planning for activities outside of the day to day topics, but I question the engagement. The ipads can be added to my stations easily, to provide that in-class flip structure, and show growth in any learner.

I think I am going to need to embrace the idea of stations, but I will really need to be organized and plan well . I really liked the idea in the video about having a station right after the video to reinforce what was taught. You just leave it empty for the first rotation...BRILLIANT!

Because I teach all grades K-6 and only have them every 4 days, my stations will need to be easy to set up and take down, they can't just be left set up all the time. This will be a challenge and will take good planning.

The flipped classroom will be a new adventure for me. I think that it will be beneficial for students who miss class a lot and then they will be able to keep up.

I really think that this concept will also help me to create stations and be able to have students actively engaged for the entire class period.

I think the in-class flip will be beneficial for students. It allows the teacher to work in small groups with students who are struggling with a concept, while other students are able to work at their own pace. I do not think that the traditional flipped classroom (out of class), will work for second graders; most do not have access to their own devices. I understand that in the beginning, this will be extra work, but will pay off in the end! I am excited to start this unique way of teaching content!!

Flipped classroom is a lot of work in the beginning with planning out the activities but once your students learn the routine and see it's benefits, it becomes so effective for student learning!

I do love that for one of the stations I can work with the students in smaller groups and really check for understanding and allow them to ask me questions in a more comfortable environment.

I love the concept of being able to work with students in smaller groups, and students being able to control the pace and the number of times they see the lesson because it is pre-recorded. It allows you to differentiate for ALL students. It does take more work on the front end but it leads to less teacher led lecture type of learning, which is beneficial for our students.

I LOVE the idea of stations! I already have the class split into different activities, but we do in it order. I would love to do the same thing, but have the students physically move throughout the room. I think that would make it more interesting and interactive.

A ton of work at first. However, this will get better and soon become quick and easy.

I could see using a flipped classroom to give WTW spelling tests or to introduce the new concept for the week.

I am excited to use stations in my library. My plan is to have lessons for an entire quarter that students can complete at their own pace each time they come to class (50 minutes every 4 days). It will take a little time to set up, but I'm sure it will be worth it in the long run. Can't wait to get started!!

The in class flip is a great way to create variety in instruction, and it is also a great way to still instruct students still when you are absent.

I've used an in-class flip in my class before, and I really like it. I haven't used a station format before, though. I like the idea of keeping students moving with short times at each station.

I'm trying to figure out how in-class flipping can work with the stages of instruction, especially at the beginning of a unit when they might not have a lot of background knowledge. I know there's a ton of potential... I just need to do a lot of reflection to have a thoughtful implementation.

Two take aways - I love the opportunity for more engagement with students because they are actually getting more than in a traditional classroom. I also think in-class flipping gives the teacher more control over time on task for students instead of hoping that they watch the videos at home. However, I am worried about how to apply stations in a computer lab where I cannot control the physical placement of the computers. I sure would love ideas from the trainers on how to make this happen because in-class flipping sounds cool!

I like the concept of the in-class flip. I think it works well with a math classroom. It would be an In-class flip with Individual rotations as opposed to group rotations.

I would like to try some flipping in my classroom but I'm not sure what it would look like yet. I definitely like the idea of "teaching" in a video so the students can access it at home if they are struggling.

I love the idea of preloading students with the information. I have yet to be successful with this approach, but I look forward to the challenge. The stations are a great way to manage the BlendED classroom.

I've watched the flipped classes in my building. The teachers are doing amazing things! The station rotation will help when I'm differentiating for things like Words Their Way, writing, and math!

I like the idea of being able to "clone" myself and to make lessons available outside of class time (especially for all of my band kids/choir kids/athletes who frequently miss class). I am a little overwhelmed by all of the work on the front end (especially with 3 preps!)

Great way to keep learners engaged. Lots of preparation in the beginning. I like the honesty of the article saying it doesn't decrease class time. I see it adding more time in the classroom, but more in-depth learning.

I can see using flipped videos with station rotations. I'm ready to get started.

I am excited to try flipping and using stations with it to give students choices of what to do. I already do some station-type activities, but bringing in the technology piece is exciting. I am not a fan of myself on video and my voice but I will have to get over that as I have to make things for them to watch and do. :)

So I have contemplated and even tried flipping a couple of times, but as the article says, the teacher can't control if the student actually prepares outside of class. I love the solutions and ideas presented here! <3

The in class flip would allow students who are at different points in the unit Advance, instead of waiting on others. Making the videos takes time but I can start small and build up a collection that I can use year to year and update.
