New York
Over half of the transportation in New York is public transportation. This makes sense because sometimes streets in New York can get really crowded, and the traffic can be real bad, so transportation like Metro and Rail can come in handy when that happens. Surprisingly, Taxi only account for 1.4 % of all transportation, and private owned vehicles account for 30$. And the remaining ones are either walking, bicycles, or others.

In Sao Paolo, public transport takes up the majority of transport use in the city at 43% added up, with walking and cycling at 29% and private transport at 28%. With each mode of transport considered individually, the most popular means of transport is taking a bus, which takes up 32.1% of the whole data set. The second most popular is walking, which is at 28%, and the third is travelling by car, which is at 25.8%. Compared to other cities, São Paulo is relatively more evenly distributed in terms of the bigger categories if we do not look at every mode of transport on its own. It also does not present a very significant feature of the city, for example in Shanghai, most people prefer to walk or cycle (at 54%), or in Mexico City, most people prefer the minibus (at 78%). The majority São Paulo citizens do prefer taking the bus, but it is just by a few percentiles compared to walking or driving a car. Therefore, I would say that the general pattern of transport in the city is rather even and there is no absolutely significant dominant means of transport.

The use of private cars, motorcycles and electric vehicles to travel is 11.3%, 5.2% and 5.4%. Compared with the four cities, New York is the city that uses the most private cars, and SAO PAULO is the city that uses the most buses. I think Shanghai is more suitable for taxi drivers, because relatively few people choose to use private cars to travel, and there will be more people who need to take taxis. Shanghai is the city with the most people who choose to walk. The traffic challenge that Shanghai may face is how to realize the diversion of people and vehicles and the choice of roads for motor vehicles and non-motor vehicles.
