Sunshine everywhere, with big gulps of lemonade. Although, the atmosphere around was quite happy, I wasn't. I had given the STAAR few weeks ago, and I knew the results could come out any minute. Plus, this was middle school so that meant if you failed, you would have had to repeat 6th grade again. Now that, added more to the stress. I was constantly checking my email to see the results. Then, one lazy Sunday evening I decided to go on the website itself. I crossed my fingers and hoped that whatever will be there shall be good. My heart was beating a million miles per hour. Finally, came the moment of truth. I had passed and gotten excellent score after all!

How does this relate to my theme?
Well, I was nerve wrecked about the results, and I couldn't even get a slight hint/warning about my results. Back in 2021, my uncle was getting ready to travel to the Maldives. He works for a sports company so he has to travel often. While he was packing, he felt his entire body ache and he started to feel very warm. Even though he wasn't feeling well, he went to the airport. Due to COVID precautions, he had to take a COVID test. Unfortunately, he tested positive for COVID. We were all extremely stressed and worried. Every day I went to pray to God that he gets well soon. Thankfully, God listened to my prayers and my uncle was home within a week. 


How does this relate to my theme?

This event in my life also takes place during summer vacation. I was at my best friend's house having the best summer any 8-year-old could. We both played for good 3 hours! After lunch, my friend's mom's phone rang. During the entire conversation, her expression was alarmed and anxious. The exact second she disconnected the call, I asked her what had happened. She said it was my mom, so I assumed time for me to go home. As a matter of fact, I was pretty wrong. It turned out that there was a tornado warning in Collin County! Back when I was 8, I was curious about everything, literally everything. At that time I was obsessed with how natural disasters occurred and why. That knowledge was not so good because I knew the tremendous damage tornados cause. After I got back home, I immediately rushed to the laundry area. Now, why did I do that? The reason was that if you go to the room in the middle of your house, your chances of surviving are higher. That day was one of those days when I was terrified to death. I was trembling all over and kept on repeating the prayer of bravery and hope. When I thought an hour had passed (it was actually 10 minutes, but 8 year old me thought it was an entire hour I had been in there), I peeked out and saw everything was completely normal. My mom was on her phone, my dad was playing catch with my brother. It turned out that Plano was one of those lucky places where the minor tornado had not hit.

How does this relate to my theme?
I was terrified that a tornado was coming, but I was even more stressed about living through the disaster (thanks to all those documentaries I watched). Regardless of how terrified I was, I kept hope and even sang the prayer for it.
