1. Scott Evans, a police officer and Bill Kelly, a judge are old time friends that used to play basketball in high school together, but now they are trying to figure out Kevin's situation. Kevin Johnson was the son of a former officer that was killed in the line of duty so the judge and the officer thought it was odd to see a former officer's son get in serious trouble.
2. Turns out that Kevin Johnson was stopped by a police officer for reckless driving. Christy, a friend of Kevin's, was in the passenger seat with Kevin. The police officer found out that he was 13 years old and that he had taken the car from Christy's dad, Michael McNamara. Both kids were questioned but didn't answer and Kevin was taken into a juvenile detention center, while Christy was returned to her dad. Michael claims that he needs to get home because his wife is very sick
3. Kevin spent a night in the detention center and later was questioned by Sergeant Jerry Brown. Brown asked Kevin about the incident that happened the other night, but Kevin didn't want to say anything. Later, Kevin was visited by his mom and his grandma then Kevin was to go to court and was realeased and went home. His mom told him that he shouldn't get in anymore trouble and that that was the worst thing that he's ever done.
4. Kevin went to school the next day, worried that his classmates would ask questions about why he got locked up. Kevin was also worried that his soccer coach wouldn't let him participate in the State Cup with his team.
5. Sergeant Brown gets involved with Kevin to try to get him to make right choices and to figure out why he did what he did the night he took Christy's dad's car. Kevin visits Christy to see how she's doing after the incident. At Chrsty's house, they have a maid named Dolores, in which Kevin says he practices his Spanish with her.
