you can see that human kind has a knack for being brutal to each other.  We see in the book thief that narrated by death himself that even death cant stand the hate and hurt humans give each other. We also see in this book one of the greatest tragedy's of all time and that is Nazi Germany. 
 
 Outside of the book in the real world we see hundreds of events that show present and past brutality to human kind. I will talk about events such as the Civil War, the Vietnam War ,and the 911 attacks. these events were deadly and harsh events that led humanity to a dark place even the Narrator death would want to have o part in.

The Civil War killed more American troops than any other war, and 2/3 died of disease. An estimated 625,000 people were killed in the Civil War, and that number only includes those who died fighting. Vietnam War killed as many as 2,000,000 civilians on both sides and some 1,100,000 North Vietnamese and Viet Cong fighters. I think humanity got so bad that people brought themselves to do something so horrible to innocent civilians is actually heartbreaking.

A total of 2,977 were killed in the attacks, along with the 19 hijackers. Of those, 246 were on the four planes, 2,606 were in the World Trade Center and the surrounding area, and 125 were at the Pentagon.
Most deaths were civilians, but 344 firefighters, 71 law enforcement officers and 55 military personnel were also killed.

At the beginning of this book we find out the narrator is death which is fitting knowing that pretty much everyone dies.
Death says you are going to die and what i get from this is that he has no control over when or how but he can see that mankind will be most everyone's fall in the end.
   
  We also here from the death I witness the ones that are left behind, crumbled among 
the jigsaw puzzles of realization, despair, and surprise. 
They have punctured hearts. They have beaten lungs. I can see from this that after reading the story the event that death is focusing on was and is made by humans and he says he sees death and despair of other humans. proving that some people are crazy enough to get satisfaction from the death of our own kind.

  My final evidence from this book is from Max who was admitted to his outcome of death by Hitler. Max says this when death captures me, ... 
he will feel my fist in his face.
