According to paragraph 18, it states, "Let him go; it will teach him a lesson, the hunters said. And he will come back shortly, and he will be meek and soft of speech in the days to follow." This shows that the council believed that Keesh would come back unsuccessful and he will be embarrassed to speak to them the way he did again. Another example is in paragraph 20 when it states, " Early the next morning, however, Keesh strode into the village. But he came not shamefacedly. Across his shoulders he bore a burden of fresh-killed meat. And there was importance in his step and arrogance in his speech." This explains that Keesh proved the council wrong and came back from hunting successfully. The council thought that because of his young age he could not accomplish what they could as hunters. After that it is put outside where it freezes into a little round ball. The bear swallows the little round ball, the blubber melts, the whalebone with its sharp ends stands out straight, the bear gets sick, and when the bear is very sick” This evidence shows how hardworking  Keesh is because he took the time and patience to come up with this  idea which made his hunting skills better than ever.
