With the rising debate of whether or not colleges should keep the SAT/ACT in their admission process, many colleges are choosing to forgo the standardized tests completely. Mostly due to claims that the tests are discriminatory towards certain people or that these tests don’t actually benefit rising students in preparation for college. 

In his opinion article, Larry S. Su, English Professor of City Colleges of Chicago, defends admission tests via analysis of each claim made by the public. Stating how these admission tests gauges if you are prepared for the college you’re applying for. Su supports his claims through facts, data and his experience being a faculty member and an international student. Through this, Su offers people against the SAT/ACT a new viewpoint on the benefits of these admissions tests

As the University of California moved to make the SAT's optional in their admissions process, many in their community wondered if this is a permanent path that the university is taking. Many wondered if it actually benefits the school at all.
In her article, author and journalist Laura Anaya-Morga delivers to the public what the University of California plans to do regarding the SAT admissions test moving forward. Although Morga mainly writes informative articles pertaining to UC, she supports her claims by using information straight from UC’s faculty members and other articles like the LA Times. 

Los Angeles Times, Karen Klein, 2022

In her opinionated article, Karen Klein, editorial writer for the LA Times, supports UC stating how it only benefits well-off students who have enough capital to be provided tutoring for the SATs. She expresses how the admission process is catered towards the wealthy because colleges usually want students from financially secure families. Pointing out the many flaws in the SAT admissions system, she remarks how the admissions process needs to be completely redone.
