Reason #1 (Racial Injustices)

Throughout this year, there has been so many more cases that show blatant racism than any other year in my lifetime. Police brutality being one of the biggest issues involving racial injustices like George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Daunte Wright and the list goes on. There is a clear disproportional pattern of black victims brutally murdered by police. Racism is a violation of human rights because as all of us have learned through this course “No discrimination” is a main basic human right of ours. This is perfect evidence for why racism such as these police brutality cases is a violation of human rights and it’s been happening a LOT more often this past year.

Reason #2 (Protesters Silenced)

Another common thing that’s happened this year is people have been trying to stop others from protesting. This happens more now due to all the political disagreements society has now especially during a pandemic like this one. Protesters have been attacked, stolen from, and silenced by people who disagree and can’t stand seeing someone else fight for what they believe in. “Freedom of expression” is another human right all of us learned in this course. Clearly, protesters have had many issues recently with trying to express themselves which makes this evidence support my claim again.

Reason #3 (Stripped of Rights)

Another thing students of this course have learned is that one of our human rights is that we can’t have those rights taken away. Well this goes with my 2 previous reasons. When minorities are discriminated like they have been recently that is actively taking away their “No discrimination” human right. When protesters are silenced that is actively taking away their “Freedom of expression” human right. So, the fact that human rights cannot be taken away is more evidence to support my claim and the last 2 reasons show why that evidence matters.
