It functions as a funding source for lower income schools.   1. Establish a school side planning team of various stakeholders so multiple perspectives are considered and the plan is well rounded. These stakeholders will include parents, community members, businesses, classroom teachers, specialized instructional staff, paraprofessionals, and students (at a secondary level). From there, the planning team will review the purpose and outcomes by creating focus groups, timelines, and a calendar of events.
  2. To remain cohesive, the group will establish a collective vision.
  3. From here, the team will create a school profile and analyze where  the school is currently at and where it needs to be regarding the vision statement.
  4. The team will gather data through various assessment tools.
  5.  Finally, the team will analyze the data and formulate a campus improvement plan to target the areas of refinement needed on the campus.

However, some of the items were placed in areas they did not apply. Additionally, some of the goals were not SMART goals and therefore could not be analyzed in a way that could be clearly tied to the campus vision or mission statements. Components and goals should be adjusted to provide more clarity and objectivity.

  • Backpack Buddies where students who are challenged with food insecurity receive groceries on a weekly basis
  • Lunch Buddies where students have lunch with community members as a form of mentorship
  • Kiwanis Luncheons and the Bringing Up Grades (BUG) program

Thus, it targets all levers in the ESF.

    Goal 2- Since this goal primarily discusses the behavior management plan, it would fall in the positive school culture lever.

    Goal 3- Satisfaction surveys are garnered as evidence of improvement regarding the positive school culture lever.

    Goal 4- This goal is not a SMART goal. However, it seeks to improve student achievement considering this it has themes of the high-quality curriculum and effective instruction levers.

    Goal 5- This goal focuses on attendance. Therefore, it is establishing behavioral expectations of a positive school culture.

    Goal 6- This goal targets acquiring efficacious teachers. This would be utilizing the effective instruction lever.

    Goal 7- This goal discusses community and family engagement. Thus, it would fall into the positive school culture lever once again.
