1st Grade Mathematics: Counting Numbers

This follows the ALCOS #5 because this video is explaining to kids an easy and fun way to count to 120. Watching videos as a kid in school is something that is fun and rewarding them. I would show this video in my classroom as an introduction to counting numbers higher than 100. I thought this was a good video because it describes counting in a fun way that first graders can understand.

1st Grade Mathematics: Addition, Subtracting, Equal Parts, and Even and Odd Number

This follows the ALCOS #6 with addition and subtracting. This video is full of songs, and practice examples that are meant to help the first graders remember the math skills better. The songs within this video are meant to be catchy so that the young children try to remember them to do math. This video covers addition, equal parts, subtraction, and even and odd numbers. This is just a reinforcement video that I could add to the end of one of my math lessons, just to be sure the students understand it!

This follows the ALCOS #22 because there tons of 2D and 3D shape games to play on this website. This website is full of fun- filled games for young students who maybe need to practice more math outside of the classroom. These games are full of math based questions that you must answer correctly in order to “win” the game. Once again, students will love playing around on this website because they get to play games, but they are also learning as well.

This follows ALCOS #6 with adding. This is a picture of a color by sum worksheet. This is a great practice worksheet that I can use for my students to practice on. The students will think it’s fun to get to color, but they will also have to solve the math problems before they are able to color. With this being said, while it is fun for the students to do, they will still be learning, since they cannot color until the problems are solved.

1st Grade History: Timelines

This follows ALCOS #1 because in this podcast it talks about timelines and how to read and write them. I do not know how much students enjoy listening to podcasts, since there are no animations or anything but I feel like a podcast would be fun to listen too after going over a topic in the classroom. This just reinforces what a timeline is and easy and fun ways to make a timeline.

This follows ALCOS #5 because it talks about important dates and events that have occurred within the United States. This is an image of a character painting, and around the painting then there are splashes of paint with a year and something important that happened underneath each year. This could make a good study guide for the students to help them out on a test. It would also just be a fun handout for the students to have. This is a fun way to reinforce and help the students memorize dates or important events that they will need to know for an upcoming test.
