Gothic literature was introduced in the year 1764 when Horace Walpole published the book named "A Gothic Story". This was the first time the word Gothic was put into a story. Gothic literature can include anything from death, decay, haunted homes/castles, family curses, madness, powerful love/romance, ghosts, or vampires.
