Children’s MD Find a Doctor stated, studies have shown "that parents estimated that 60 percent of 10th graders drink." That’s not to say that teens don't start substance abuse at an even younger grade level. As generations continue to to grow children at younger ages learn about drugs and alcohol. As discussed in the class kids as young as the age of 10 to 13 years old start to learn about these substances. With the influence of social media as well as music in today’s day and age it is up to the parents to educate their children on things such as alcohol as well as drugs. The comfort may not be sublime for parents but it’s up to them continue to instruct their children. Instead of being naïve its best to teach your children on what can happen when consuming these substances therefore they know the consequences of their choices.
