I completely and utterly agree with Nina's Simon vision in her speech on ''Opening up the museums' (https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=aIcwIH1vZ9w). Many people consider museum as elite institutions for a specific audience. Global accessibility is not easy. There is a big need for opening up the museums. A need to see them as multi-functional, multicultural co-created spaces. Spaces for interaction, for discussion, for exchange, for problem solving and game playing, for amusement and learning.

Set clear expectations and ''rules'' based on respect. It is not enough to say that we can't touch the artifacts, we can't scream, we can't run. Have to explain why we can't do all that in the museum. Space and visibility is very important so the choice of the work of art in advance is essential. The theme to focus on might be our curriculum object. The range of activities can go way further than a simple sketch. Real objects to activate the sense of touch and diminish the ''do not touch'' frustration especially for the preschoolers.

Just an idea...
We might want to introduce a theme/ curriculum. A museum visit can be the inspiration, a way to trigger the curiosity of the students and start a project.

It depends on how ready we are as teachers to go on and work on a curriculum proposed by our kids inspired by a museum.

The general theme can be proposed through our choice of museum, for example, ''natural history museum'' and let the kids choose the specific theme/category, for example, ''insects''

Apart from the theme and the curriculum, there are secseve practical things we as teachers have to do beforehand. Visit the museum, learn about fees and transport, one month in advance propose the visit to the school director; argument the reasons why you wanna take your class to the museum, present the fees, dates and transport. When you have the ok think about the pedagogical objectives and plan your month

Each sculpture became an inspiration for exploration.

Some sculptures looked like bended wire, so I brought wire and after deicovering the sculpture with the kids I gave them the wire. They alla started bending the wire and some of them tried to copy picasso's sculpture.

Another one looked like cut paper so I gave the paper and scissors.

Children are learning by experience. Giving them the materials and the inspiration, listening to their comments and discussions is a great way to start and facilitate the museum experience.
