Why can’t we look at a total solar eclipse if it is blocking the sun?

Looking at the sun directly during an eclipse is more dangerous than looking at the full sun. The darkness that comes with an eclipse can cause us not to squint and move our eyes away from looking at the sun. An eclipse only happens for a few seconds and then we will be left looking directly at it, which can damage our eyes.

What causes the seasons?

As the Earth rotates on its axis and travels around the sun it creates a pattern that happens over and over again. At certain times of the year the northern hemisphere leans toward the sun and the southern hemisphere leans away and at other times it is vice versa. This is what makes seasons. When the part of the world that you are living in is facing the sun it is warm and the days are long (summer). When you are on the spot that is leaning away from the sun it is cold and the days are short (winter). If the Earth was not tilted we would have the same season all year long.
