These items can be as simple as a pencil grip to as complex as a computerized system, which they would learn the system then learn from the device. AT's technology should be updated as necessary as possible and with grade level to ensure full potential and needs of student are being met. There are six ways to differentiate in instruction which (the first three) include gauging students' readiness, interest, and learner profile. The next three are content (match, read, textbooks, think, create), process (textbooks, audiobooks, and interactive assignments) and product (write a book, graphic organizers, oral reports, etc.) Each area has its own explanation as well as system in which the information will be instructed to students, what interest will peak and which learner profile fits specifically with what learner. DI is the assumption that every student has a different learning style that needs to be highlighted and focused on to better them as a student, and provide guided, shared instructional strategies. This learning is more of a personal level and is in close contact with the students needs as in obtaining and retaining information. DI is important because it is flexible, short term, engaging, establishes routines, and allows  students understanding and access to strengths and needs to make great choices. Students are provided with the time, space, materials and activities to access learning in a different way that may allow them to understand the material easier.  Being inspired with a love of learning, increased engagement, improved learning outcomes and self-awareness are a few examples of the outcomes in DI.
