We learned that there were three dots made to protect San Francisco. One was on alcatraz on was near Marin and the other was fort point. Fortpoint was located in the most useful spot because it had the best view of possible incoming invaders.

The fort had nearly one hundred cannons at all angles of the fort facing the water. These cannons were so inaccurate that they had a 5% to 10% chance of hitting their target so that is why they had so many canons.

Back in the “old days” there were many interesting tools used in every day life. Some of these tools were candle sniffers you were supposed to blow out the candle and leave the snuffer on so it wouldn’t reignite. Another tool was a pop corn maker which was basically just a metal tray and aparantly one of the hardest things you could do was male popcorn without burning it

Canons were not very automatic for it took about 30 seconds in between each shot. It took 5 people at least to work a canon. There were also many interesting rules to use the canon for example the person pushing the ball back into the canon should only use the stick with one arm so that way they will only use one arm compared to both. Also canons were tended to explode.

Most soldiers at fort point were artilery soldiers. Being a soldier was a very dangerous job because of the aparant dangers of canons and guns but also just being a patient of a doctor left you with a 50 50 chance of living. Aputations from a good surgeon would take about 25 minuets and left you with a 50/50 chance of living.
