         <title>Disadvantages of Block</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. 90 minutes is too long for most kids.&nbsp;Fidget breaks have to be built in. It's too long for teachers too.<br>2. Being behind (overall) in curriculum delivery compared to this time last year.<br>3. When kids are absent, they miss 2 days worth of material. And they don't get missing work the next day...they wait until they have that class again, which could be multiple days.<br>4. Not having prep hour every day is not ideal. It isn't just prepping for classes, but it's also down time. Time to unwind from those particularly challenging students.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I really enjoy teaching in the block. It allows me to integrate more engaging activities, dive deeper into curriculum, and meet one on one with students. It's particularly helpful for longer projects. I never feel like I have "extra time" to fill during a block. I feel like if I effectively plan my time, students don't get too fidgety. I can integrate multiple activities in one class and revisit old information.&nbsp;<br><br>Disadvantages:&nbsp;<br>I am a little behind in my curriculum compared to the past. But it's ok with me because I am just strategically picking what is the most important/most interesting.&nbsp;<br><br>It is really hard to not have prep everyday. Little things like white cards, calling parents, cleaning my classroom don't end up getting done...</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Less transition time and more time in the class has been great.&nbsp; I am able to get more in depth with the students each day and implement assessments at the end.&nbsp; Six period day would be more ideal to take the confusion out of keeping 7th on track with everyone else and would also give more time to each of the six periods.&nbsp; I still run out of time with the 90 minutes, so that would be a good thing.&nbsp; For me at least.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. Students have more time to learn new content and practice it all in the same day, rather than learning it and being cut off in the middle of their learning process.&nbsp;<br>2. I don't feel as rushed each day switching classes and having to restart so many times a day. I feel like I have more time to get to know students better because I don't feel as rushed.&nbsp;<br>3. I can have more time on test days to review before and then give the test.&nbsp;<br>4. Kids really are adjusting to it.<br>5. Kids can focus on 4 classes each day and won't have too many big assignments due the exact same day.<br><br>Disadvantages:<br>1. In some classes, students aren't getting up much. (Or they don't want to when you have them do it even though they need to)<br>2. Sometimes it's hard to keep kids engaged. Especially kids who aren't really interested in academics no matter what.&nbsp;<br>3. I'm a little behind in curriculum because student's often feel like we do too many things in a block. I do think kids are getting used to it, and that's part of making the block work to have several transitions. As they get used to it, I am able to keep on track better.<br>4. It's hard not having prep every day, especially with lunch support and lunch duty on those days. </div>]]></description>

         <title>From the point of view of a non teacher, and one who advises an extra curricular activity, home rooms really help with having consistent monthly meetings, pulling kids out of homeroom instead of classes to help with issues.  I think it may be good to get a survey of the students, and see what they think as well.</title>

         <title>I miss getting a prep every day but I also feel like I am more productive during my prep when I have it because it&#39;s for a longer chunk of time.  Preps for most teachers aren&#39;t fully designated for just themselves; you&#39;ve got students that you&#39;re helping, dealing with interruptions/situations, etc...  It&#39;s nice to be able to have that longer chunk of time to actually prep even though you have those interruptions.  </title>

         <title>I agree that we need to give it another year. I&#39;ve heard a lot of people (staff and students) say they&#39;re adjusting to it and like it more now if they didn&#39;t before.  I think the hardest thing, as a teacher, is not having prep everyday. It&#39;s important for the downtime as much as the planning time. </title>

I polled a couple classes and they are liking it more now as well.&nbsp; I have time to do more activities and incorporate more review.&nbsp; I'm able to slow down and not rush through things now.&nbsp; I like only having to focus on 4 classes a day.&nbsp; Students don't feel as rushed as they used to.&nbsp; <br><br>Disadvantages<br>Absences are an issue, missing a lot of material/content. &nbsp; I'm not getting through as much content as before. Not having a prep everyday can be mentally exhausting.&nbsp; <br><br><strong>I think we should do it for one more year (little tweaks if needed) before making any major changes.&nbsp; &nbsp;</strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

One negative is that if a student misses a class, they miss a lot of information. </div>]]></description>
