Loving everything about that rap! I really enjoyed seeing the instructional strategies that you demonstrated and discussed. "Evidence-based teaching strategies" is a term I've heard a lot through graduate studies and beyond as these strategies will likely have the largest impact on student results. I find, though, that often it's hard to find what these are and the research behind them. I'm curious if you've been able to find research behind instructional practices/strategies? Similar to What Works Clearinghouse, it would be cool to have (or find) a website where you could see instructional strategies and a compilation of the research behind them. Looking forward to seeing all that you've found!

Great information on some new strategies that I can use to keep learning interesting and to reach students with different modes of learning. I think this is my favorite area of being an educator - finding new ways to present/review content with students in mind. Last year, we did have students write additional lyrics to a glycolysis rap that we shared. It worked really well for those students who embraced the activity. Knowing teachers different styles of instructional practice is crucial in my role as it helps me to better understanding why Student A is succeeding in math class, but struggling in science class- aside from what we would typically assume... For instance, I want to know what Teacher A is doing so I can tell Teacher B that this is helpful for Student A- do you think we might be able to try that? Often, I find that a student might not necessarily have a learning disability or require specially designed instruction, but actually just struggles with a particular teaching style- which is why utilizing multiple practices in your teaching is important and why this PLC is crucial... Certainly not saying one style is better over another, but I do think differentiating regularly is important.

Love the intro! Ha! I love the idea of sharing instructional strategies. Peer to peer support is so important in making sure we are all staying relevant and current in our teaching. Each student has a different style of learning, and we should therefore adapt our teaching/mentoring as such. We must consider our own perspectives, but more importantly the perspective of the students for which we support. This falls in line with the student voice/mental health PLC's as well.

Great demonstrations and modeling of the strategies. It's evident you put a lot of time into this and presented the research and information well. It's great to switch things up in the classroom, and not stay in the same old rut, the more strategies I see I love trying to find a way to replicate or use parts of it in my teaching and lessons. I also never knew Neff had a potential career in the rap game.
