I was raised in the LDS Church until I was about 16 years old and then I didn't really go consistently. I think this has had a very large impact on the person that I am today. I had made many friends and met many good people who were involved with the church from the time I was born until I stopped going. I look at how some of their lives had ended up against how my life has ended up and they are two different ends of the spectrum, neither right nor wrong you could say. When I left the church I started to make decisions based on what I wanted to do and not was taught to me as right and wrong. I felt very pressured to be perfect at all times and was always second guessing every decision that I would make. I go with the flow of life a lot more now than I had used to.

I am a male and I think that allows me to better get along with other males. Not to say girls and boys cannot be friends or get a long well. I think that boys tend to have more things in common with other boys and girls tend to have more things in common with other girls. A good example of this is when you are a child and you have not fully stepped into you interests or opinions. Some girls may want to dress up and play princess or watch a barbie movie, while most male children would be playing with trucks or cars and watching pop the builder. As we get older and interests and hobbies expand and we tend to not draw a line at small things like gender we are more focused on the interests and the things that we have in common.

During the winter time I feel like I have a completley different outlook on the world, this is because of skiing. Last winter I worked at one of the ski resorts as a supervisor and would get to ski from lift to lift to make sure that everything was running smoothly. I would be up on the mountain every day before the sun was up and was in the wide open spaces all day. I love to work up at the resort because it makes me feel like life slows down a little bit. It gives me one big thing to focus on and all the little worries of the world seem to sluff off. I try to carry that mindset with me in the off season because it helps me not feel so stressed. I can go up to the mountains, be outside all day, work my tail off, go back home and feel very satisfied with the work that I did that day. I would get a sense of fulfillment at the end of everyday leaving me feeling accomplished, instead of laying down in bed that night and thinking about all the things that I should have done that day and didn't.

Humor

I think that humor and what you find as funny vs offensive is a very fine line. I have people in my life that have a very similar sense of humor as myself and some of these people have turned out to be some of my closest friends. Something that my friends and I liked to do was go to comedy clubs some nights and listen to the up and coming stand up comedians. This is a great time and my friends and I can bond over and relate to some of the jokes that are being said. I feel like this reaffirms our friendships and solidifies them that much more. It is also a good "test" of ethics and morale. Someones sense of humor can say a lot about them as a person.

Family

The thing main thing that has made me into the person that I am today would have to be my family. Your family is the people that have seen you at your worst, as well as your best. My family has always been supportive of me and the things that I am trying to do and decisions that I make. They offer guidance and tell me about past experiences that they have had, trying to get me all the information available before I make a decision. I have learned a lot from my parents about what makes up a good person in my opinion. They are both so kind and willing to help anyone that needs anything. Family comes together in times of hardship and helps one another out, they do not dwell on mistakes of the past, and they are always there to celebrate the wins in life. My mom always said to me that if you make a decision that you "shouldn't" have or it did not turn out the way you expected, you make another decision. I love that because it says to me that things will go wrong and life keeps moving on so you can let that one poor decision dictate the rest of your life, or you can make another decision and move on.
