I really liked the intervention that you provided for the student at home. It is important that we are using these intervention at home to ensure the student is successful and the structures are consistent.

My guess is, this Victoria, thank you very much. The reason I felt the need to create this part is because I realized it is the only way I can engage his mother into actively tracking his performance on a day to day basis. I asked you a question on your padlet because I feel something happened at home and Jason is ready to quit. Any suggestions/ideas are welcomed!!!

Checklist/Notes

I really like the fact he has to get the checks before he leaves his classes. This is a great way to build these skills into habits. However, with the lecture notes, I wonder how you can monitor that he is actually referring to them? I love to give students hard copies of the notes, or guided notes to follow along with, but my concern with Jason is holding him accountable for using these notes.
Yanni Response:
I never thought of this, you are absolutely right, I guess if he completes his homework he has to use the notes. Only problem, I am not teaching him anymore--was moved to 8th grade--and can't follow up. As his advisor I have contacted all his teachers but this is something I need to make an extra effort to see if he is keeping his end of the deal. On the bright side, his behavior has improved according to his ELA and Math teachers; for Jason this is a good step!
Can you think of any alternatives to the classroom notes, or how to make sure he is using them?

I didnt even think about engaging the parents that way. That is a great idea I could see how beneficial it could be already. I will check my padlet now sorry for the late reply!

Yanni Response:
I guess making you guys contributors does not show your names on your comments, oh well, thank you for the feedback! , my guess is you are Kate, yes, in my school I have 30% SPED students and maybe another 10% undiagnosed, I came to realise that if the parents are not involved their child will fail. It is only reasonable that we involve parents, and this little list works, because the parents are now accountable to their children!
