         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>A. </strong>War in Vietnam started when Vietnamese nationalists and communist joined to fight French armies they used hit-and-run tactics to confine the French cities. The U.S. supported France in in Vietnam and in 1954 the French suffered a major military defeat and surrendered to Ho. The U.S. entered the war in August 1964, but President NIxon began withdrawing U.S. troops in 1969 and he came up with a plan called Vietnamization which allowed U.S. troops to gradually pull out while South Vietnamese increased their combat role. After 1975 North Vietnamese imposed tight controls over the South. <br><strong>B.</strong> After WWII ended Korean was divided into North and South by the 38th parallel, North Korea got help from the Soviet Union and South Korea got help from the United States. The war started on June 25, 1950 when North Korea crossed the 38th parallel line and invaded South Korea this war lasted for about three years. In July 1953 a cease-fire agreement was signed and it is still divided up to this day. Four million soldiers and civilians died during this war.</div>]]></description>

East Germany was named the German Democratic Republic and western zones became the Federal Republic of Germany.<br><strong>B.</strong> Stalin said that free elections in Eastern European nations was a clear violation of those countries rights.<br><strong>C.</strong> The Warsaw pact was a military alliance that formed in 1955, it included the Soviet Union, East Germany, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, and Albania.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>A.</strong> NATO is the North Atlantic Treaty Organization that formed in 1949 by 10 western European nations, the United States, and Canada to form a defensive military alliance.<br><strong>B</strong>.Truman Doctrine was announced by President Truman in 1947 and it was a U.S. policy of giving economic and military aid to free nations threatened by internal or external opponents.<br><strong>C.</strong> The Marshall Plan was a program to provide food, machinery, and other materials to rebuild Western Europe.<br><strong>D.</strong> The Cuban Missile Crisis happened in October 1962 it was a 13-day confrontation between the United States and Soviet Union it was concerning the Soviets ballistic missile deployment in Cuba. Both superpowers came close to a nuclear conflict.<br><strong>E.</strong> Containment was a policy adopted by President Truman in the 1940s that was directed at blocking Soviet influence and stopping the expansion of communism by creating alliances and help weak countries resist Soviet advances.</div>]]></description>
