When I moved to the United States, I felt excited about starting a new life. But after a few weeks, I started to miss my home country, Colombia. I miss the sound of my family laughing at the dinner table, the taste of my favorite dishes like arepas and empanadas, and the warm sunshine of the afternoons. I miss celebrating holidays with my family and friends, especially Christmas when everyone gathers together. Sometimes, I feel sad and lonely, but I stay connected by calling my family every weekend and cooking my favorite meals. Even though I’m far away, my heart will always be with Colombia.

I also miss celebrating Christmas with my family and friends, when people get together to have a holiday dinner. Sometimes, I feel very depressed, but I stay connected by phone and video calls with my family. Even though I am far away, they are always in my heart and thoughts.
