We encourage Year 11 students to visit at least two colleges in advance of applications being made.  Application deadlines vary, but many are by end of December this year, so please do your best to make time to attend open events at any college you are considering.

Recently Emma (on Ginger) and Bea (on Fitzy) represented the school at Felbridge.

Bea had a lovely round Arena Eventing with a very competitive time. Emma came 5th in her 80-85 showjumping round and qualified for Addington next month.

In other news several members that had qualified for the sunshine tour at hickstead had great results, Emma and her partner came 5th in the pairs showjumping and 9th in an arena eventing class.

Tabitha on her pony Bambi in a workers class came a very impressive 3rd.

Mia and her pony Guinness won their working Hunters class and then followed up with a 3rd in the championships.

Bea and horse Fitzy had lovely 70cm showjumping round with 1 unfortunate pole but a great round in a busy environment for an inexperienced horse, very well done every one.

This week 6 pupils are representing the school at the Hurst college inter school show jumping at Hickstead.

Year 7 had a fantastic Interform Day. They competed in a variety of challenges: benchball, dodgeball, collaborative art, solving the mystery of the missing sports trophy and a crazy quiz that included junk modelling and photography. There was an amazing buzz as the students engaged with the activities, giving them a chance to achieve points for their form, but also to build connections with each other and their form tutor. 

On Thursday students from Years 9, 10 and 11 had the opportunity to attend our annual Careers Fair, held in the school hall. The event was a great success, giving our students a valuable insight into the wide range of opportunities available to them after secondary school.

Throughout the day, students visited a variety of stalls run by local colleges, apprenticeship providers, and a few local employers from different industries. (We were sadly underrepresented in this area due to several employers who were unable to attend at short notice). Representatives were on hand to answer questions, share their experiences, and provide information about pathways into further study, training, or employment.

The Careers Fair was a great chance for students to meet face-to-face with employers and providers, helping them to think more clearly about their ambitions, goals, and choices post-16. From discussing A-Level courses and vocational options to exploring apprenticeship opportunities, the fair encouraged students to start considering the skills, qualifications, and attitudes needed for success beyond school.

It was great to see the students engaging with the providers, they were asking thoughtful questions and showed a great interest in the wide range of opportunities presented. Feedback from our visitors was equally positive, with many commenting on how engaged, enthusiastic, polite, and well behaved our students were.

Events like this are a key part of preparing students for their next steps, and we are grateful to all the organisations who gave their time to attend. We hope that the Careers Fair has sparked conversations and ideas that will continue to grow as our students move forward in their educational journeys.
