Our DEIJ committee held a community day for support staff and their families last year, but it wasn't as transformative as hoped. This year we have planned to don one community day for ALL staff and families. I want my kids to hang out with the support staff kids, for example. Then I get to know them better - that is more equitable. Hoping this makes a difference to relationship building and to participation.

Hi! Thanks so much for opening up the conversation here! Some thoughts we had when doing advocacy work in this area is to identity other social issues that may disproportionately impact the LGBTQIA+ groups & then integrate them in service projects. For example, in Tanzania if economic insecurity and access to health services may be impacting the LGBTQIA+ community members, instead of centering a project around the community itself, we try to design a service program that would provide support without putting a label that may put communities at risk. Happy to share more ideas on this! Best, Lauren
