There is a lot to take in here so it would make a good independent read for a child interested in the 60s OR a great center piece for a music class lesson plan. You could listen to the song and follow along and use the image guide in the back to study details. Great history and music teaching tool.

There’s so much to look at in this book. Good introduction to poetry for kids because if it easy to follow along with. Could be a good lesson plan tie in for Mark Twain or 1800s river life.

Would be a really fun story to read one on one with (or with a small group, but they would all need to be close enough to see some tiny boxes on the pages). Tiny boxes give clues to remember the previous verses of the song. Would give confidence to kids as they recite the song. Great information about other cultures as well.
