Hawaii has various cultural influences. Its Polynesian roots still remains evident across the islands but there is combination of Western and Eastern Influences as well. In the 1950s many people from Portuguese immigrated to Hawaii. They introduced the usage of pork, tomatoes, chili peppers, and sweet Portuguese bread. Chinese immigrants brought over Cantonese cuisine, and introduced dishes like stir fry and dim sum.
