The statement is about showing black power and presence in spaces that once left black people out. They put themselves into a museum known for white European art, this was them showing black artist now shape culture and history too. This matters because it proves they are reclaiming history and making sure black voices and stories are seen as powerful.

I think the statement that the Carters were making was showing how far they have come. My image that I chose shows how in the ancient pantings the black people were in the background; in the song they talk about how they made it and now they have power. It’s significant because back then black people were slaves, caters, and more, now the Carters are showing that they are much more than that and came on top.

This is important because most European art show's mostly only white as power and elegant but don't show black people in the same way.

They rented out the Louvre and stood in front of the Mona Lisa, they are two of the most wealthy and famous African American people in the country, they want to make their importance known. Being able to rent the Louvre and bring some of the richest people shows how important they are, and would be close to Mona Lisa level of fame.

This image caught my attention because not only does the red background make it more engaging but also can symbolize achievement, and not also that but the phrase “I can’t believe we made it” it’s a feeling of joy and accomplishment while standing in front of a pharaoh statue which these statues served as symbols of divine power and them standing in front of one of them can explain why they decided to say that phrase at that moment. I believe that this is important because throughout this class we have learned that white people have been taught they are superior towards people of color so them being able accomplish their dreams and more, shows how society has been evolving through the years.

The Carters are trying to reclaim a predominantly white space to celebrate black history and reject white hierarchy. In the video Beyonce and the other women are placed directly in-front of the painting standing, this contrasts the kneeling, showing they’re not submissive, they’re proud and elevated. Additionally, the outfit choice represents modern black fashion rejecting assimilation into historically elite white fashion, reclaiming brands like Burberry which is rooted in British heritage and transforming them into something owned and celebrated by black women. In the artwork, Beyonce’s high bun represents a crown, turning black hair into a symbol of power and challenging European beauty standards that have throughout time criticized and policed it. This is significant because the Carters are asserting black pride, power, and identity by boldly placing black fashion, culture, and bodies into spaces historically dominated by white elites.

The pharaoh symbolizes power because in ancient Egypt pharaohs were considered living gods that fostered the absolute most power. This infers that beyonce and jay-z are standing with the pharaoh because they both hold the same amount of power.

The statement I think that are Carters are making in the scene is about showing how they are getting their power back from european ideals. The dancers are shown beneath a painting of a white women (La Grande Odalisque) wearing similar colors to show that Black people also belong in history, art, and beauty standards therefore challenging societal ideologies. This is important because it redefines old ideas and shows that Black culture deserves the same recognition in history as European culture.

This scene shows a black man showing power and confidence in a way people don’t usually see. By standing on the horse, he changes the usual image of strength and makes a statement about pride and visibility. This is important because it challenges stereotypes and shows how art and music can speak out against racism.

The women in the painting shows a sense of calmness and confidence, challenging the racist attitudes and stereotypes prevelant during that time. This is important because the painting plays a significant role in promoting social justice and equality.
