I envisioned my self portrait to be have mixed feelings as this represents how I feel everyday, which is that I seem optimistic on the exterior but depressed on the inside. I chose to use 2 extremely contrasting colours like black for the photo and light colours for the background which perfectly contradicts each other, like how my feelings are. I am inspired by Andy Warhol's use of contrasting yet bold colours in his drawings. One way I created this portrait is through the use of ropes to create the patterns in the background, and I feel the pattern enhances the contrast even more. The definition of the word Farouche sullenly unsociable or shy. This is a portrayal of me in my primary school days, quiet, insecure, lonely.
The reason why I chose a gradient of blue-green to yellow is mainly because the effect produced was mesmerising. The colour blue gives a mood of calmness, which was just a facade of my lonliness. The green evokes envy, which represents my envy towards the more sociable classmates of mine. The yellow, emitting positive happy vibes, overcomes the negativity of the left side of the art work, and this implies that happiness can overthrow all anguish and brighten up a person's life. The different layers of colours and texture connotes a sense of no belonging, wandering aimlessly with nothing that one could call theirs. The faint print of the portrait shows that he is overshadowed like a leaf in the wind, small and powerless.
 I envisioned the portrait to show how the world has gone cold many keeping to themselves. The patterns gives the feeling of oddity and uncertainty. That is how many youngsters face the world, indecisive, shy and with no confidence.

I had envisioned my portrait to be a vibrant and organic image to match with my optimistic personality, and it came out to be a turquoise portrait against a yellow, green and blue background.
The bright colour scheme allows the scene to be light, saturated and vibrant, and the use of unorthodox materials created a unique and organic texture.
