In every setting, children can be exposed to English for the first time through fun and engaging activities, such as finger games, action songs, and total physical activities.

 

So, when they get to the middle school, they are suddenly expected to face challenging and text-heavy Reading passages in your English textbooks. This activity describes a way to build a bridge between not reading and reading something, so that reading textbooks it becomes less intimidating for them. In other words, it is based on the notion that students can read what they can already tell, and in this sense, it relies heavily on the principles of Linguistic experience approach.

LEA is a process by which teachers transcribe what students say and then use the resulting text as reading material for students. It is a widely used strategy in teaching reading in the first language to young children and adults’ literacy programs. Works well for beginning readers in second language or foreign language classes, regardless of age. The activity described here is written thinking of children.

Personal Opinion

Reading out loud in class is challenging for learners, especially for young learners who lack confidence and are shy. Those learners tend to refrain from speaking out loud because of a high level of anxiety. This activity allows learners to practice reading in a fun, game-like manner, which can serve to lower anxiety levels and motivate them to read out loud in class.

 In the same way, researchers agree that awareness and monitoring of one's understanding processes are critically important aspects of expert reading.

 In the literature, these awareness and monitoring processes are called metacognition, in turn it can be considered as the knowledge of the reader's cognition about reading and the self-control mechanisms that they exercise when supervising and regulating the comprehension of a text.

Personal Opinion

Metacognitive reading strategies need a lot of the reader's understanding and these are important because they consist of taking charge of the reading, in addition to monitoring comprehension while we read.

Students who read with metacognition constantly ask themselves "Do I understand what I just read?" or "What is the main point here?" It requires constant attention and an inquisitive mindset. 

In the same way, it is necessary to know that a reader is approaching a text with a large amount of previous information, knowledge and experience, including preconceptions about the uses of spoken and written language.

Here are some steps to teach reading in a second language

1. Develop a schema of the reading process that includes
the idea that reading is more than translating—reading
is thinking.

2. Talk about their reading, and explain how they make
sense of a text.

 3. Read extensively for pleasure in English, and discuss
their reading with someone who can model the
literate behaviors expected in an English-language
context.

 4. Break the habit of reading every word by reading
faster.

5. Learn to vary their reading rate to suit their purpose
in reading.

 6. Employ top-down processes effectively by learning to
make connections between what they already know
and what they are reading.

Personal Opinion

Reading in a second language or a foreign language (L2) can be a difficult or complicated process than reading in the first language because it requires additional demands on the reader.

Reading can be assessed from multiple domains. It is known that reading fluency is the most determining domain to identify reading problems, but there are several strategies to make reading less frustrating if these are put into practice the results will be great for both the teacher and the student.

It is important to remember and mention that previous knowledge is very important when reading a book since it will be easier to understand the reading because we already know something about the subject. As future teachers, we must reinforce the child's abilities and previous knowledge, being very creative and looking for the best options for children, especially in reading and understanding.

In this article, very important things are mentioned, such as technology (the use of computers). Nowadays, the use of applications and computers is necessary and important, such as learning a language. The acquisition of these computer and language skills are very valuable for the society in which we live and for all industries. It can be said that these formative and linguistic skills are a requirement for society considering that there are quite a few competencies in all industries.

Literacy acquisition determines the relationship between cognitive skills (perception and memory) and reading skills (decoding and comprehension). 

In my opinion, I think technology is very useful and important. It is a tool that if used in the right way will be of great help in all aspects for students, teachers, and parents.

Nowadays it is easier to find books if you need to buy them and this thanks to technology and there is not even the risk of losing books and this favors literature and also communication and interaction is easier when wanting to speak of certain subjects or of a book.

Defining resilience Terms such as emotional hardiness, bouncing back, buoyancy, developmental adaptivity, standing upright, being invincible, becoming invulnerable, and re-centering are common in resilience literature.

The virtue of resilience is very important, and being able to promote it through books is much better, childhood is the best time to start. Being able to overcome traumas or fears or being able to adapt to new things from childhood is very important and healthy. The most important thing is that there are books that help people in general, especially for children, an example would be stories for children.

It is important as future teachers to be selective people to choose the best books for our students in order to promote resilience in children, taking into account that each child has different problems since each family experiences different situations.
