Question:2)

One way the citizens can advice the government to take route 2 into considerations for the building/construction of the CRL is by telling them the benefits it can get and also the disadvantages if they decided to use rote 1 as the best choice. They could tell them that if they use route 2,it would not affect the biodiversity found and the animals that are over there where their habitats are found, but this route 2 only affects the citizens as for now, they have to pay more taxes due to the longer distance travelled by the CRL which is a few kilometres more thus government needs more fund. But this is relatively fine for the citizens as they would rather conserve the nature reserve rather than being selfish and wanting to cut through resulting in an increase rate of animals dying due to noise and vibrations produce by the train which may last for several years due to its effectiveness. Therefore the citizens could persuade the government that route 2 is better than route 1 as they will be Thebes one suffering the pain rather than the innocent animals that needs a home a and peace for their live s to continue freely.

By choosing route 1, the tunnel will be shorter in length ( 4KM) compared to the tunnel in route 2 ( 9KM). This will save a lot of cost as less building and maintenance is required. Less materials will also be required, thus saving a lot of money. As less money is required, the government will not need to collect so much tax from taxpayers to fund the construction.

You should use route two.
Singaporeans need to this about the bigger picture, and about long term benefits, not short term benefits. If it is built at route one, there is less sound pollution while building, less taxes paid, quicker commute time.. there are many short term benefits. But if build at route 2, there is one big environmental benefit: the route does not affect the CCNR. Some noise pollution, some tax, time saved, this does not even matter compared to the environment. That’s why route 2 is a much better solution.

Question 2:
One way the citizens can convince the government to use route 2 for the CRL is by telling the government the advantages and disadvantages it causes. The advantages to using route 2 for the CRL is that it will reduce the traveling time to and fro work and home. However, if the government were to take route 2 of the CRL it would cause massive damage to the biodiversity of the animals in the oark and will also have a loss of trees and dense undergrowth which will make the area susceptible to erosion and harsh weather. The soil might also pollute the water supplies for the animals threatening their life. Hence, the citizens may list down these points of the advantages of using route 1 over route 2 when deciding for the CRL.

The MP can tell them that to built route 2 citizens and businesses can get evicted as well as noise pollution caused by the construction works. Futhurmore, the cost to built route 2 will be extended by $2 billion dollars, the citizens of Singapore will have to pay it through tax. Due to this reasoning there will be backlash against the building of route 2 from the citizens. Thus, the MP would have successfully convinced the people to build route 1 due to the loss residents will receive from route 2.

Question 2)
one way the singaporeans can convince the government to use route 2 for the CRL is by explaining the benefits and main intention of using route 2. they can explain that by using route 2 for the CRL, the tunnels will be skirting around the Central Catchment Nature Reserve which means the construction of the route will not cause any disturbance or harm to the wildlife and habitats of the animals living around that area. the singaporeans can further reason and say that although using route 2 requires a longer tunnel route length than route 1, with a difference of 5km, it is still a major contribution to sparing a thought and caring about the animals that are living in the wild. this shows that it would be preferred if citizens willingly pay the extra tax to taxpayers due to the longer route, rather than disturb, harm or even destroy the homes of the animals. therefore, the singaporeans explaining that innocent animals and wildlife should not be destroyed to make space for new buildings such as the tunnels, and instead willingly pay for the increased tax payments for the sake of nature.

Question 1: Overall it will affect the least peoplewhen building and cost to build will also be cheaper. People living or working closest to the reservoir will not be affected by noise as works are going on underground. Due to a shorter route, we will pay less tax compared to when route 2 is used. Commuters can also get to their destination faster and quicker. Therefore, route 2 is the recommended and most suitable route

Q1)
One strategy In which The MP can convince the people is to tell them the advantages of choosing Route One which is a 4km tunnel, with 2km under the central catchment nature reserve. Route one has a Faster traveling time allowing Commuters to commute faster to their destinations unlike route two which is a 9km tunnel that stretches underneath residential and commercial buildings. The fact that route two is 9km longer and is in a skirting alignment shows that travel time will increase significantly when as compared in route 1 as the difference between the distance of the route is by 5 km.
By choosing route one, residents and business owners will no longer be affected as the train will pass through the nature reserve and there will be no land and home acquisition by the government and thus people will not be affected by this and this route one would benefit our people more. There will also Be no noise pollution by choosing route one as the trains will not run underneath our houses and land. Extra works could even incur a cost of $2 Billion more in expenditure thus taxpayers will be taking a huge blow and it is too expensive and there may be construction challenges. However, by choosing route 1 there are disadvantages too as it would lead to a loss of biodiversity with our natural environment taking a huge blow. But i still feel that This should not stand in our way of progress and thus we should proceed with route two as i think it is best suited to the interest of our country and what our country should do.

The MP can elaborate on how Route 1 can bring more advantages to the residents' everyday lives as well as also note on how the construction of Route 1 will not affect the residents. For instance, the MP can tell residents that Route 1 brings more convenience and accessibility to the residents ; children can go to school on time and adults reach work earlier. Then, the MP can also touch on how the construction of Route will not affect the residents at the slightest ; they can rest well at home and are not at risk of eviction. Hence, people are more willing to support Route 1 as they believe Route 1 brings only benefits and no risks.

Q1). One way to convince affected Singaporeans to support Route 1 for Cross Island Line(CRL) is to provide them the benefits that Route 1 is able to give. The MP can explain to the affected Singaporeans that if route 1 was chosen, there will not be land acquisition involved that will affect the residents living there. Since Route 1 is shorter than Route 2, it allows a faster traveling time for commuters to commute to work and it provides a more convenient traveling route for the residents since this route does not require land acquisition to build its path thus residents can take the CRL to go to work as well without getting affected at all. Residents will also live there in peace as there would not be noise pollution at that region since the CRL isn't built underground it will not disturb the residents and let them live peacefully without getting disturbed by. However there will still be losts as well. For example, there will be loss of biodiversity and damages to the environment. Soil exposed will be washed into streams and marshes, polluting these habitats and killing animals that live there and trees are cut down to clear a path for construction of soil investigation rigs every 15 to 20 metres. This affects the environment and even harms it but it is still a better choice compared to Route 2 as route 2 is really too long a distance and there is a chance whereby shifting is needed due to land acquisition and noise pollution will cause a level of disturbance towards the residents there.

The MP can elaborate on how route 1 can bring in more advantages for not only the resident but also the business owners. For example, they can say that Route 1 will not affect the resident and the business owners as it wont make a lot of noise when it start construction. Other than the noise, many people might not need to move due to land acquistion. The tunnels will also be shorter as compared to Route 2. (4km to 9km). Thus, many people will choose Route 1 t as they think that it might bring more benefits than challenges.
