Traditionally farmers would use their hands to farm and caused injuries to the back and hands from picking the plants. But at the beginning of the Dark Age Inventors wanted to make farming easier, and so they had decided that cattle can pull larger plows to increase the amount of soil minerals. This became the new standard of farming. Allowing a increase in the farming industry as well for amount of food resources. Farmers also used a biological farming technique and it was the use of beans and peas. The peasants used beans and peas to restore nitrogen to the soil. This killed weeds making the soil easy to plow through with cattle or tools.

The Black Death was one of the most depressing pandemics in human history. It resulted in an estimated 75-200 million deaths and wiped out 30-60% of Europe's population. The cause of the deadly disease was predicted to be impacted by the bacteria "Yersinia Pestis". It was highly contagious. It originated in Central Asia and spread by oriental rat fleas living on black rats who were regular passengers on merchant ships. Once the plague reaches your lungs, you start having flu-like symptoms. The disease takes 2-6 days to appear. Once the bacteria multiply exponentially and your body goes into shock from the large amount of bacteria, your body slowly kills itself. Your blood can no longer have the ability to clot and your organs fail.

The Roman empire encouraged the building of towns, however, as the Germanic tribes came into the Roman empire they built manors, castles, and villages. This resulted in the most old Roman towns going away and new towns coming into place that were self sufficient, independent, with limited trade opportunities. In the 11th century, however, the Crusades began to stimulate the revival or commerce. This resulted in travelling merchants establishing headquarters in places of safety, and places accessible to main roads grew rapidly. By the 13th century, Europe was dotted with cities and people became less self sufficient; they started to create a lifestyle of trade and exchange.

Learning was mostly only available to the rich and was taught by religious institutions in a church or monastery. After they graduate they advance to learning at a university where the rich learned to write, correct grammar, geometry and astronomy. Universities influenced public opinion and shaped the Canon Law which was a list of laws and regulations created by the church leadership. The Canon Law was the backbone for a developing leadership of a nation or land. This introduced the students to new skills that they can use for a business or a job.

The commercial revolution impacted social, economic, and political power. After the crusades, spices, silk, and perfume was reintroduced into Europe. This allowed an expansion in the idea of trade. The power no longer rested in the rich and wealthy landlords and the center of the society turned to the middle class. People no longer had to keep a relation between the landlords for food and service. The power of the landlord started to decline and increased the importance of the merchant class. Alliances were formed with monarchs and merchants. Instead of the merchants paying multiple feudal lords for importing and exporting good they only had to pay the king once yearly. This led to majority of the merchants relying on the king rather than the lords. This gave an opportunity to lower the power of the nobles. Also the taxes from the merchants allowed the kings to build a stronger military base.
