The Hungarian revolution happend a year before. In Russia, a meeting with many communist representatives happened. At that time there were 13 communist parties around the world. Also, the red army was there. There was a conference (Conference of Representatives of Communist and Workers' Parties of Socialist Countries), where all communist nations signed a joint declaration. What this meeting sought was to reestablish the union of the communist parties. Before this congress there was another call (20th Congress of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union), in which Stalin was thrown into controversy and revolts in Hungary and Poland. Communism was spreading. Also at this meeting Khrushchev's line was reaffirmed of different paths towards socialism and peaceful coexistence They adopted a manifesto in which they affirmed that everything that has to do with capitalism affected world peace. They were not longer dependent communist states. China wanted to have more economic power. He wanted to industrialized China with servants working all day and night.

Khrushchev becomes prime minister. In this year, Khurushchev gives a speech saying that the western forces will withdraw from Berlin for 6 months. Here the problems with the United States, Great Britain and France began to come, this ended with the Berlin wall. The division of Germany and its capital city of Berlin among the four victors of the Second World War was frozen in time by the onset of the Cold War despite the postwar agreements to unify the zones (History state.org). The United States was demonstrating how a capitalist system was working on the other side of Berlin. The Soviet Union was providing access to the land of Berlin, the same happened in 1948. In the same city he used to see the contrast of communism and capitalism. The Berlin negotiations carried over to 1959.

On January 20, Dwight D. Eisenhower becomes the 34th president of the United States, his main goal was to contain the spread of communism.
On March 1 Stalin has a stroke during a dinner with the Soviet Union’s interior minister Lavrentiy Beria. Later, on March 5, Stalin dies. After his death, he is succeeded by Nikita Khrushchev as the first secretary of the communist party of the Soviet Union. After his succesion, Khrushchev starts to attempt to “de-Stalinize” the Soviet Union, which initially causes turmoil and unrest in the communist states under the hegemony of the USSR and the members of the Warsaw Pact (like Poland and Eastern and Central Europe). Still, Stalin´s death and these new policies create a huge thaw in the cold war which leads to a period when repression and censorship in the USSR are relaxed and millions of the Soviet Union´s political prisoners are released from labor camps; this is called the Khrushchev Thaw, led by Nikita Khrushchev. This so-called thaw starts to change the Soviet society by opening up to new education, economic reforms and trade. These new policies mark a temporary period of peaceful co-existence between countries and weakens the Soviet Communist Party.
Finally, on July 27th the Korean war ends after President Eisenhower uses Nuclear blackmail and threatens to use nuclear weapons to end the Korean War if the Communist Chinese do not accept to negotiate. The Chines accept and afterwards the United States, China, South Korea and North Korea sign an armistice agreement which still remains today.

Late march saw the tragic death of the Rosenbergs, the Soviet Union denies any of the alleged claims of espionage, moreover this event clearly shows the way the west intends to taint the people's true ideals.
October: Talks are being moved to P'anmunjom, during this short encounters the initial face of an agreement is being drafted, the idea of a Demilitarized Zone is included yet the main concern is the handling of prisoners of war or POW's.
Concerning the signing of the Mutual Security Act by US president Truman, the communist states find it ironic that it refers to giving aid to the free peoples when they have enslaved thousands to the crippling system of capitalism

US president Dwight Eisenhower endorses a CIA plan to overthrow the Castro regime in Cuba by supporting an invasion by Cuban exiles. This gives rise to the Bay of Pigs invasion in April 1961. War and tension between The Soviet Union and the U.S increases due to Soviet ground defences shoot down a U2 spy-plane. Five days later Soviet leaders unveil evidence of American spying, embarrassing the US and sparking an international incident. The US government finally admits that it was on a surveillance mission. Soviet leader Nikita Krushchev demands an American apology for the U2 incident . This leads to the abandonment of a planned US-Soviet summit in Paris. Later, Soviet fighter jets shoot down an American reconnaissance plane over the Barents Sea. Four American crewmen are killed and two others taken prisoner by the Soviets. Cuban regime supported Soviet Union's ideals, which led to the US to establish a partial embargo on Cuba, banning the export of all items except food and medicine. This year ends with John F. This was a pact of mutual assistace and co operation, this meaning that its members will come to the defence of any member that is attacked, and by that way, creating a coordinated defense among its member nations in order to deter an enemy attack. In this pact, Albania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, the German Democratic Republic (East Germany), Hungary, Poland and Romania were joining the Soviet Union in their alliance.
The alliance provided a mechanism for the Soviets to exercise even tighter control over the other Communist states in Eastern Europe and deter pact members from seeking greater autonomy (https://www.history.com/topics/cold-war/formation-of-nato-and-warsaw-pact)
This pact, gave a lot of political power to the Soviet Union, because the leaders of the 'Political Consultative Committee' and the 'Unified Command of Pact Armed Forces were both Soviet.

The cold war officially starts, the U.S President Harry Truman addresses in Congress a brand new foreign policy: The Truman Doctrine which called for the containment of communism, and later, would lead to U.S. entry into wars in Vietnam and Korea to provide defense from all communist takeovers. It established that the United States would provide political, military and economic assistance to all democratic nations under threat from external or internal authoritarian forces. This grew the division between western democracies and communist countries.
As an extension of the Truman's doctrine, the U.S. Secretary of State George C. Marshall announced a plan that directly opposed Stalin’s vision of the postwar world. Unexpectedly, United States didn't withdraw from Europe.
Also, as the Cold War began, it started to influence Italian and French politics. De Gasperi, the prime minister of Italy, visited the United States during January and returned to Italy with 150'000.000 Dollars in aid. As parliamentary elections approached in Italy, Jeorge Marshall, U.S. Secretary of State, threatened to take away the aid if the communists and socialists came to power. In addition, numerous civic committees were formed in Italy to get anti-communists to vote.

The USSR discovered these plans during March, and immediately after they withdrew from the Allied Control Council, which hadn´t met since the end of ww2 in order to coordinate the occupation policy between zones. Later, in June, the U.S. and British officials the new brought forward the new currency: the Deutschmark, which was introduced into Bizonia and West Berlin, without first informing their Soviet counterparts. Seeing this a complete violation of their previously made postwar agreements, the Soviets instantly issued their own currency: the Ostmark, into Berlin and eastern Germany. On June 24, the Soviets closed and blocked every railway, road, and canal that could access the Allied-inhabited zones of Berlin, announcing that the previosly settled four-way administration of the city had ended.
