1: It stops us viewing children as simply empty vessels. It creates a process of teacher and student collaborating in learning, rather than the teacher 'transferring' information or knowledge.

2: It allows us to get to know each child individually - we can learn from their funds of knowledge as learners and educators. We can use their funds of knowledge to plan for and listen to their culture, which in turn, builds their confidence and self esteem. It allows them to help in the creation of learning experiences, rather than the teacher just providing the information.

Question 1: In an ECE setting it can challenge their normal routines as it may differ from in the centre to their day to day life. It also challenges how we as educators view the use of culture and the children's interests in the space.

Question 2: Benefits include making children feel comfortable within the space, allowing educators to learn and involve different communities in their learning. It also connects to the EYLF, being, belonging and becoming.

As an educator being able to involve families into the room and creating those relationships, having the children involved in teaching their culture and their funds of knowledge. As educators it is important for us to use those funds of knowledge to best support the children in our care and better understand where they come from.

Aboriginal children are not empty vessels. As educators we need to incorporate their community and foundation of experiences into everyday learning. To do this we must create strong relationships with the child and their families and community.

When looking at this document this quote stood out to me
