I think it is a great way to get press by posting through social media as these players have tons of followers, we didn't think of that. Also, the wearing symbols was an idea we also had, so that is great. I have one question, though; would they post on NFL page, each player's page, the team page, or all of the above?

I think that donating to organizations that help bring awareness to and support those who are oppressed in this nation is great, and speaking publicly on the injustice is effective as well. However I don't think it will bring as much attention to the issue as kneeling has in recent months. Perhaps there should be a symbol that players and other high-profile figures wear to show solidarity to the oppressed in this nation. Just speaking in my opinion isn't effective enough.

I agree that it is very brave of the players to protest, however in order to make a change in society lots of support is needed. While many Americans stand behind the players and support them, many also feel that this form of protest is not very effective. I believe that they should try to change their tactic since they are not gaining the support they hoped to with this form of protest. It could be as simple of a change as standing and linking arms rather than kneeling, just to see if more Americans feel comfortable supporting them when they try something different.

I agree that the current form of protest is ineffective because the original message is being lost in the controversy, and social media posts could be a direct form of protest that won't likely be muddled by conflict about the protest itself. However, only the most dedicated NFL fans follow specific players on social media, so they will reach a much smaller demographic.

I disagree with Kaepernick's form of protest being effective because his methods of protest are garnering more attention than the actual thing he is trying to change, effectively causing the polar opposite effect than the one that he intended. It is not that his cause is unjust, it is that his means are too polarizing to cause people to view the issues he is protesting in a rational manor.

I agree with the part about athletes being more likely to succeed in this area than others, but I think that just wearing something special isn't going to stop people from twisting the message. Any symbol can be twisted in some way. The problem with posting on social media is that, while it is hard to twist someone's words when they can directly follow them up, it won't gain as much coverage as a direct protest.
