My favorite part was when Annemarie got stopped at the very end. She had no idea that it was a handkerchief.She sounded so surprised, and I liked how I still knew what they were saying even though they were speaking German.

I honestly can't choose a favorite part because I liked all of it. I just wish it wasn't so sad. I felt like crying several times. However, I still really liked it because it really made me feel like I was there with the characters, inside the book. I also love that it was historical fiction.

My favorite part of the story was when we found out that Peter and Lise were in the Resistance. That they were helping there country. And that Lise got hit by a nazis car other then just a accident, the nazis were trying to hit her car and kill her.

My favorite part of the book was when Animerie pretended to be Kirsti and when she started crying cause they took the bread and she got mad at them. How she said until Ellen gets back she will where her necklace with the star of David on it. How they were running back from schools cause they were running to home.

I like when Annemarie is playing dolls with Kirsti, it's so cute. And Peter died so sad and Lise died is so bad I feel bad to Annemarie. I'm happy that the Jewish people are safe in Sweden.

My favorite part was when the Jews made it to Sweden safe. I am very glad that Ellen made it out alive and safe. I will say I am very sad that Peter has died. I was nervous when Annmarie got stopped and the soldiers took uncle Henriks bread and opend the package with the hankircheif.The most intresting part about the story was when the soldiers came up to the Johansson's apartment.

My favorite part of the book; Number the stars, was probably when we found out that Lise was a part of the Ressistance. When I tell you my jaw dropped, I mean my jaw DROPPED.. It was such a crazy plot twist! If I had to rate it 1-10 I would probably give it... A 15!! Love, love, love this book!

My favorite part of the story was when We figured out Lise and Peter were in the Resistance and that when Lise was not ran over by an accident, Lise was ran over by the Nazi's on purpose because they saw her running.

My favorite part was when the nazzi soldiers broke into the apartment and anamari had to pull of ellens necklas so they werent caught, i also think that ellen helped anamari heal after lise´s death, i think the auther gave a hint of that when the family pretended she was lise, i loved this book becase of how heartfelt it was, if this hapened to amarica i would have done the same, great book!

I LOVED the book the first time I read it I really liked it and I went home and told my mom how it was my new favorite book.My favorite part was at the end when she went and got Ellen's necklace and said she would wear it until they found Ellen and her family again.And I'm also REALLY sad because I don't like how they leave the end like that I WANT TO KNOW MORE! 😪

This book was truly amazing.I might buy a copy for myself.I loved this book so much.The end was kinda sad because Peter died.But other than that I loved this book.The part I liked the most is when the soldiers stop annemarie with the basket.In the basket was a handkerchief that made the dog's smell messed up.

My favorite part of the story is chapter 5 who is the dark-haired one? I think that this was a great story because I like how it is set if you know what I mean .I love the ending very much its sad because Peter died ,but overall I loved it and my favorite people that were in the story was Ellen,Annemarie,and Peter.Thats what I have to say about it if I were to ever read it again I would.

I think that the book was not as hyped as I thought it would be. WHY DID PETER HAVE TO DIE?? I think it was unessasery for that to be in the plot, well at least he gets to see Lise. My favorite part was when Annemarie was sprinting down the woods , remembering the stories she would tell to kirsti. I also liked when Kirsti hit back the souldires from touching her hair.

My favorite part of the story was when Ellen got to see her parents for the first time at Uncle Henrics house. My least favorite part of the story was probably when Annemarie found her mom laying on the street. Another one of my favorite parts is when Annemarie was bringing Uncle Henric his lunch and the Natzies took the bread and fed it to there dogs and saw the little package and ripped it open to see it was a handkerchief and throw it.

The most interesting thing in the book is when Mama was laying on the ground with a broken ankle and Annemarie found her on the ground.What I think was my favorite thing in the book was the end and we found out peter died and the real reason leis died. the book was good and I think the end was kinda emotional.

Yes! I loved the book it was really interesting, until the end, which was really sad. My two favorite parts was when Annemarie got stopped by the two soldiers at the end, it just proves that she has so much bravery, and when Peter talked to Annemarie about the Handkercheif, that's honestly just amazing he planned it all out! My favorite character was probably Ellen she was honestly just really funny and sweet. if i'm being honest I imagine Peter to be hot don't get me wrong.
