I think the Mayans didn't have a high level of social mobility because mostly your position on the structure represented your ability or capability. But for some instances it is mobal but not for any good reason. For example, kids would be sold to become slaves, or if you married someone who was a slave, then you would also become one.

I don't think the Maya had a high level of social mobility because you were basically at the same level your whole life, and even if you did get a lot of money, you weren't able to do things the higher levels could do.

I believe social mobility depends on what the next role in the social hierarchy is for that individual. While it may be possible for a commoner to become a merchant or artisan, it would be much more difficult to take to a position of greater power, such as a king or council member.

I don't think so because many people weren't able to get to the highest level of the hierarchy but most people were slaves. It was very hard to maintain in the Mayan civilization. The people would have to work a little more harder to get to the top of the hierarchy.

I think the Mayans didn't have a high level of social mobility because a lot of their roles were inherited. Also, the common people couldn't purchase clothing or ideas that symbolized being a noble. Also, if a person were to marry a slave, they would become inslaved.

I believe that the Mayans didn't have high level of mobility because in the video it states that only certain could maintain the roll also because it was harder to have more power for certain people because your born in the level your family importance is in the society.

I don’t think its easy because if your a slave your basically imprisoned and if your imprisoned you can’t really go from slave to leader or slave to leader.
