I have students create a lesson about a topic from the previous semester. They create a FR and MC question and present it to the class. They can teach it live, with a video, parody song, or any other method to present it to the class. This requires they have a more than simply cursory understanding of the topic.

Flip FRQ Assignment

In order to practice FRQs, I used a compiled list of previous FRQs from different topics and assigned Flip video assignments where students could research how the questions should be answered and then present the problem. Others were then tasked to provide feedback to the students. This allowed them to see previous examples and learn what is expected.
